Thanks derbi for the vote of confidence. Saw the movie "the Happening" wasnt paying enough attention to notice the exact height difference, as I was trying to see if the movie was going anywhere. Odd movie. I do remember Wahlberg looking noticably taller though than Leguizamo though.

I agree he does appear all over the place in movies. Prob. due to demands that our stars appear larger than life onscreen. We always want to believe that they are superhuman in every way. The simple truth might just be that he's a regular guy with a good amount of natural talent. Still have to say one of the most engaging and nicest celebs I've met. Have also heard this from other people who have met him.

Everyone's different. Its amazing how a little help in your shoes makes a difference as well. Take it from me a 5'9-5'9.5 guy. Mark barefoot is 5'8 and with 2 inches worth of lift under his feet he could look average. He always looks short though so he isnt a lift wearer.

Obviously with shoes. I think he's only 5'6 because he looks basically the same height as Martin Sheen standing next to him and I'm assuming Sheen is the one wearing lifts since he is only 5'4 since my brother met him in Cleveland. and confirmed this.

If you google Mark Wahlberg height, you get 5'7 EVERYWHERE! Same with Cruise, cept if you google "Tom Cruise height" you may even get a few 5'6es ;)
If wahlberg is 5'9 and looks as short as he does on screen, then someone who is 6'0 would look average on screen, which doesn't make sense. Ppl who are 5'9 and 5'10 can generally look above average tallish on screen depending on the build, ie Ed Harris :)

I met him at the premiere for the Italian Job in London and he is definitely 5'7 or less I am 5'9 and looking down a bit onto him. Was a cool guy though came up and talked to us for a minute then kept on walking on the red carpet.

In the movie the italian job he was taller than 177cm charlize theron. That is some good camera trick. He does look short. David letterman towers over him. I would say he's a good 175cm guy no taller.

Mark is a shrimp. Like most actors when you meet them in person they are surprisingly (shockingly) short and tiny people. I'm 6'1" in my barefeet and I've stood right next to Pacino, Dinero, Redford, Paul Newman (God rest his soul...and a great guy to meet!!), Matt Dillon. I was stunned at how small they were. They all come across as big guys on the screen. Matt Dillon I couldn't believe how slight he looked. Not just height but their frames were like tiny people. In his bare feet it would not shock me at all if Walberg was even under 5'7". Anybody these days gets 2 inches if you wear running sneakers or hiking shoes which is popular in casual mode. That kid from SNL is not a tall person and he is 2-3 inches taller than Walberg. That kid is just too nice and in pretty good shape I'll bet or else he could probably pick up Walberg and body slam him. It's too bad he didn't turn the skit around on him and just challenge him to follow through on his promise to punch him in the nose. Walberg was a real puck as a kid and did real nasty things to several innocent people (several who were critically injured). If I were that SNL kid I would have been going "let's go!" "I'll f'n drop you" using his Walberg imitation voice. I hope he does the skit again. That would be so friggin' funny and start to make it an ongoing thing.

The buddy of mine who had this photo shoot began to take off sweats (he was a natural bodybuilder) and probably the craziest abdominals i've ever seen. He said the girls quieted down, and all attention was on him. He looked back up, and Mark Whalberg left the room. Usually when you're over 6'0, you have no reason to fib about your height, thats what I've noticed. tons of 5'7/5'7.5 will say 5'9, and lots of 5'8-5'8.5 will say 5'10. Marie men do that because we have serious complexes when it comes to our physical size!

The really bad thing about Mark claiming 5'10" is that there is a very quick and easy reference for him and that's his brother, he's legitimately 5'10"ish.
The really bad thing about Mark claiming 5'10" is that there is a very quick and easy reference for him and that's his brother, he's legitimately 5'10"ish.

Both my brother and I have met and talked to him on two different occassions at different locations, him in NYC and me in Orlando at a resort where I used to work. We came to the conclusion that he is at most 5'9" and at least 5'8". If you guessed 5'8.5" I wouldn't think you'de be off by much. My brother is 5'8.5" and I am 5'10.5" so we're both around his reported height making it easier to estimate his height. Once again, he was an amazingly nice guy, very accomadating and quite chatty, although soft-spoken.

Just read somewhere he wants to have 9 kids. Reminds me of this friend I had when I was real young whose family were strict roman catholics that didn't believe in contraception. Editor Rob the pavement in a lot of shots was never known. It is notoriously difficult on the street to guage when the sidewalk has even 1-2 degree slant, this is why you end up with 6ft 1 Willis and 6ft 2 DiCaprio's!

In both photos Whalberg is standing in front of Glenn, giving him an advantage he also has a hat on adding an illusion, especially in the bottom pic. Glenn I think he is the exact same height as you. did people forget that as much as i like mark,he is average in his acting skills(not that tom is that much different,but he did have 3 or 4 great acting moives,i cant think of any with mark),and he isnt a icon like cruise.mark has some cool movies.no doubt.

I mark wahlberg is showing up in normal footwear, self conscious and not really caring about his height, nobody will make a big deal out of his height. But if a tom cruise shows up, sometimes in big lifts, huge shoes, people start noticing that little tom cares way too much about his height... and they will make a big deal out of it. It's exactly like nobody would care about stallones height too much, if he would just always look his height (which I think is 5'10"). But eventhough stallone isn't small he loves to wear monster footwear... and that's why people started to make a huge deal out of his height.

I believe that if he stood tall next to Glenn he would have a strong half inch at the least on him. I really don't know how he could be mistaken for the same height as Glenn.

Just checked this site again and thought I'de have some useful info. so here goes. I commented on this last Oct. because he's one of the few celebs I have met in person and have done so twice. I stand 5'10.5" barefoot and wear normal heeled dress shoes at work in the 1" range. Each time I met Mark, he was wearing golf shoes. I worked at a resort near Orlando. I was estimating our footwear to be about the same as far as ading about an inch. He was noticably shorter than I am, I estimated in the 5'8" - 5'8.5" range without the help of shoes. My brother who has also met him two times is of the same opinion. The two are about the same height so it was easy for him to judge. Hope this helps, and please play nice......

Rob, why not upgrading him to 174 cm (5'8.5")? I think that height woul show wahlbergs slightly taller than Glenn, but you still wouldn't give him a full 5'9". I think that height would suit him very well and I also think that the big majority on this site would appreciate that upgrade, even if it's only a small one. Thanks anyway.
