Is that all Richard was? He looked taller than Kevin Whately in the 'Inspector Morse' episode 'The Day of the Devil', in which he starred as the cuddly canon. Well, I am surprised!

i allways thought Griffiths seems more than 5ft 9 but i think this is in his later days i think he shrunk quit a bit and 5ft 9 is his height at the end but in his younger days he was taller 5 10 - 5 11 at his peek

Well, sources say that Harry Melling (who plays Dudley in the HP movies) is 5'9", and he looked about the same height or taller than Richard Griffith's. Not to poke fun at Mr. Griffiths's weight, but I think his obesity makes him look shorter than he really is.
