I also saw the infamous Shaq segment on the Howard Stern show. Stern called him out about his height being 7'1. He said "Shaq, I'm six five and you aren't 8 inches taller than me" and Shaq then fessed up that he was actually 6/11 and 1/2.

There is absolutely NO WAY that Ewing is 6'9'', because he has never looked shorter or the same height as someone else who is 6'9''. He definitely looked taller than Alonzo Mourning in their matchups and ZO is 6'10''.

Take a picture of Shaq and Barkley when Shaq is standing up 100% straight and looking forward at 3:05 and 3:08.
Someone take pictures at those marks.
The other picture was when Shaq was looking down and because Shaq is the tallest he will have to look down the most.
If Barkley is tilting his head slightly he won't lose anything in comparison because the top of his head will still be at about the same height. However if Shaq's head is tilted down even slightly he will seem shorter because we aren't comparing to the top of his head. We are comparing where Barkley is in comparison to his nose, eyebrows, mouth ect. which will all be lower if Shaq tilts his head even slightly.
So if someone takes pictures at those 2 marks then we will have a very accurate comparison.
As far as the poster on the Wilt's page, while he seems nice enough I don't think he knows what he is talking about and here is why.

Very true. Carter's unfortunately now a shadow of his former self in terms of jumping ability. He definitely could get his head at or above rim level. I've seen plenty of Jordan and Dr. J dunks over the years and just never saw their heads coming that close to the rim. I don't think Lebron can either.

Danimal that makes sense because Shaq said something about 7'3" in a 2007 interview with Slam Magazine. I assume that's his height in shoes. That would make sense because 7'1" is his barefoot height and add 2 inches for his unusually big basketball shoes and you got 7'3".
As for Shaq's weight in a video on youtube at one point he did say he was "7-1 and 365" while in Los Angeles. My guess is he weighed 365 in the 2002-2003 season. I remember that season he was much heavier than any other season.

lsu alum I said "7 foot listed" meaning I don't know John Salley's true height. I just stated John Salley's listed height because I have never tried to estimate his real height before. Either way if he was listed 6-11 or 7-0 he probably is atleast 6-10 meaning he can probably estimate Shaq's height pretty well.

Biz Z has said he is 7'2" and not 7'3" as he is listed. I can buy that because he always towers over his teammates and he looks about half an inch taller than Shaq so when you factor in Shaq's shoes which give him about half an inch advantage then 7'2" sounds good for Z.
As for Grant Hill, I always thought he looked more like 6'7" and 6'7.5" Scottie Pippen always seemed taller to me but that was because of his thinner build and long wingspan. Hill sure looks 6'8" here with 6'8.25" Shane Battier. Click Here

I made a google search trying with "Tim Duncan's real height" or something similar and I found that "6'9.5" comment. But I can't find it anymore (consider that it's very late in Italy and I'm tired). But, anyway, as far as I remember, it was just someone's opinion, nothing official. I had just seen a picture showing Duncan and Stoudemire talking after a game and they looked the same height. So that comment made me a little doubtful about Tim's height. But, actually, in other pictures Duncan looks a little taller than Amare, I would say 1 or 1.5 inches taller. I had also seen a picture where Duncan and Lebron were very close to each other and Lebron looked almost the same height as Tim. But, just a few minutes ago, I found this video clip:

Thanks Allen4, 218 cm is accurate Ilgauskas. He has claimed his height as 7'2". So add 1" or 1.5" for shoes and he is 7'3.5" in shoes while I believe Shaq is 7'3" in shoes because his big shoes add 2 inches.

Yeah I agree Viper. I'd love to see some 70's measurements. I know Dr. J said he was 6'5.5" coming out of college and was still growing. I'll post the link soon. Even 1980's pre-draft measurements are nearly impossible to find. The only one I remember seeing was Scottie Pippen.

I have seen a picture where Shaq appears to be looking down a bit at Pryzbilla. Neither Shaq or Kareem seems to have very good posture in that picture either. Both seem to be leaning.
Here if you look at Shaq's shoulder and neck you can see he is looking down slightly while Pryzbilla is looking straight ahead. If you look at the bottom of the picture you can also see Shaq's knees are bent.

Yeah but JJ, Rob has other players listed at their draft camp heights already. Steve Nash, Jared Jeffries, Yao Ming ect. are all listed at the height they measured at the draft camp. They don't measure right out of bed either. I think the draft camp measures anywhere from 8 AM to 11 AM.

If the 7' 1 was a morning measurement its quite possible that by midday shaq is down to 7' 0.25 to 7' 0.5 which would therefore be the average. Sorry 'shaq is 7'1' but theres always a smart ass to put a spanner in ha ha

Greg oden was measured out at 6'11" with a 7'4.25" wingspan and his Standing Reach is only one inch less or even dasagna diop who's measurements are 6' 10" barefoot 7' 6.5" wingspan and a 9' 5" reach.

Ok, so I wanna give my two cents about Shaqs height. I agree with Shag being 7'2'' maybe 7'3'', but thats with his 2 inch basketball shoes. I believe he is a legit 7'1'' barefoot, 7 foot even bare minimum. I maybe wrong, but it just seems logical.

So, I've done a few calculations based off of some pictures of Shaq and Kobe Bryant. According to my calculations, Mr. O'Neal stands approximately 7 feet 0.35 inches or 214.2 cm. This figure is based on the average height he stood next to Kobe Bryant in my sample of photos, in which he stood between the range of 6 feet 11.0 inches and 7 feet 2.3 inches. So this seems to suggest the listing he has here is pretty accurate.

Massimo Bynum has grown since he entered the league. He was 7-0 1/4 at 17 but he is now a full 7'1" it just hasn't been updated. On Andrew's official site he lists himself at 7'1" and the Lakers have reported several times that they measured him at this height.

Len Bias was a taller, more athletic version of Jordan. He had a much better college career than Jordan and his improvment year to year was just scary. Whether he would have been just as good or better than Jordan remains a mystery. He would have been awesome though. Lebron James is about the best comparison I think.
