Despite how kooky Cruise is, I like some of his films. He can act.

I think 170 cm is a safe bet for Tom Cruise height. That should be the height when he started his career. There may be some change to his height though. It depends on the life style. If he does yoga or stretching exercise most of the time, his current height might be slightly taller than listed, so that means his current height might be 173cm. If not, his height could get a little bit shorter because of the aging, making his height about 167 or 168 cm. It all depends though.

After all, Tom’s never looked 5’8” or thereabouts, aka ‘below average, but not quite short’.

@Rob: In the 80s, that's more believable as I think he became more height conscious later, particularly since he's been primarily focused on action roles. He wore big heels in The Color of Money, but that may have just been style.

I remember the discussion about Sean Penn and tom cruise too. Sean appears taller you can clearly see in the movie taps at 1 hour 12 minutes that he is indeed taller and they are wearing the same footwear, in pictures they got that time sean does appear taller too by at least 2 cm if not more.

If Leo is really 181 cm then Tom in roughly 5 cm elevators passes for a solid 174 range with him and he might scrape 177 in those elevators. Then again, I could see Cruise the same height barefoot as 171 cm Jerry Bruckheimer and he was the same height as 5'7.5" Steven Spielberg. Plus, I think Leo may be only 5'11" flat so I still think 5'7.5" is the best guess for Tom. I think there's a good chance he's maintained his height into his 50s as well. I am not convinced he is as low as that Pierre. I watched that whole video segment and Corden and Tom seemed only barely shorter. I don’t think that picture is doing justice as we can’t see knee posture. I also had Corden much higher than 5’7” flat, but I think we just have a difference of opinion there.

Editor RobHaving met Renner, I think he pretty much is in strong 5ft 8 range, but Tom I don't think looks much different at times in photos, although half inch in posture is easily lost...I still expect barefoot that Jeremy would measure a bit taller from all I've seen of the two of them.
