Tom Noonan's Height
6ft 5 (195.6 cm)
American actor best known for roles in films such as Manhunter, The Monster Squad, Heat, The House of the Devil, Robocop 2 and last Action hero. In a 1994 article he talked about how awkward it was aged 10 when he had sprouted to 6ft, an inch shy of his dad's height and in Stumped Magazine he said "Like 6'6" or taller". I met him at 2010's London Film Con (pic by Malcolm).

i guess he had bad posture, lower fottwear than rob thinks and/ or lost a tiny fraction when they meet. This guy must have been taller than 6´5. In movies at peak he did look at worst 197 cm and that is probably his real height. yes he is very skinny but still. pulled of 6´6 most of the time. 197 peak and 195 now.

Hmmmm....growing to 6'0 at 10 and only about 5 inches afterwards....Rob is it possible for people to grow mostly before their teenage years? In high school (ages 14-18) I only grew around 3 inches (3.5 inches max).

Noonan said nothing about early puberty so assuming he got a normal period of growth in his teens there is every reason to think he was pushing 6'7'' at peak when standing tall. The fellow is a serious actor and has no reason to exaggerate how tall he is, quite the opposite.

Most standard doorways are 6'8", I measured most around my old apartment and current home. anyhow this dude was an inch shy with shoes on of course in Manhunter. And in the fight scenes with William Petersen he has almost a foot over him and big bad bill is said to be 5'11" or so....Taller than most of the current " tall" actors whatever that means...I was 6 foot at age 13 so this dude did edge me out by a long shot....but I was an early bloomer....

He was excellent in Manhunter. His character was supposed to be 6'7 and he had said he went on a weight training program to look more menacing , he looked closer to 6'7. I think he was perhaps closer to 6'6" in his prime.

James Cromwell is the only actor who is comparable to Noonan in my opinion. I think that actors who are what people in the business call "tall tall" to an extreme will tend to play down their height. They wan't to be considered for a range of roles. In height terms, Noonan's peak was 3 decades ago and it must have been over 6'6''.

I, on the other hand, was a late bloomer. When I was 16 I finally had Noonan's proportions, but I kept growing (especially my head and jaw) and now I'm 18, 6'5" and with a 25" head circumference. I bet Noonan's head's only 23" in circumference.

Either way 6' at age 10?! That is unbelievably tall. Robert Wadlow was 6'6" at that age!

Dansons 188cm today and Tom is 195 or 194cm at worst nowadays.

@Shaun It's not impossible that it was his real son. Look at John/Nick Cassavetes. Father was around 5'7, son ended up around 6'6. Could be from the mother's part of the family.

Incase u guys wanna know i just compared his height to rob standing next the the height stand and made heads same size etc.. the top of his head came up to only 190.5cm... or 6ft3 exact though as u can see both of them have ofputting postures but i dont think hes really 6ft5

It's because Noonan is close to the camera however it's very cleary that he is at least, like Rob said, a strong 6ft5.
My opinion is very close to the 6ft6 mark.

Yup I agree with you Mandilo, in that picture Bailey seems a bit taller however look at You Tube for "They are made out of meat", by the end (5:35)you can see that they are both wearing flat shoes and looking very close in height.
My opinion is: Bailey 6ft6 Noonan 6ft5.5 or 6ft6.

The license printed out at the end of Manhunter lists Noonan's character as 6'7" and 217 pounds. He does indeed look just over a head taller than Joan Allen.

I've just watched X-Files 4x10 (awesome episode) and in the mugshot he was 6'5'', but I think he was barefoot, because later he towered over Duchovny with at least 5''.

Sam, that would be interesting, but I'd guess Noonan .He's a bit skinnier as well,and I think that would add the appearance of being taller. He seems to consistently have better posture than Cromwell, who can slouch himself down to about 6ft3-6ft4. I saw Cromwell interviewed on Tavis Smiley, and he said he was almost 6ft7, but he rounded down since his height was always a roadblock for him.I don't know if Noonan is any smaller these days, but I would have thought he would have a higher peak height than 6ft5, at least 6ft6. Maybe Cromwell is taller?

I watched Knockaround Guys recently, and Noonan looks huge in that movie. The top of Barry Pepper's head comes up to his shoulder line. Noonan was wearing cowboy boots, but they didn't seem to have huge heels. Still, he looked 6ft7 maybe more like 6ft8, compared to Pepper and Diesel, who had about 3 inches on Pepper. If Diesel would have been about 6ft2 with his special boots, then Noonan had to have been 5-6 inches taller.
