Rob, what would it take for you to bump up charles to a full 6'5"? In most pictures he comes off as a strong 6'5"+ and i don't believe he ever really did look shorter than Michael Jordan who have here at 6'5" now.

Editor Rob maybe he's one guy who got measured just under 6ft 5 and went with it...then another time got measured standing a bit better as 6ft 5.5 (or a bit earlier).

6'5 1/2" in the morning and 6'4 3/4" in the evening is what his height is. He just rounded his morning height to 6'6" when he went to the NBA.

I recently saw "Sir Charles" in Atlanta. He is one of the few (past) NBA players that undersells his height. No way that he's under a full 6'6" flat and likely a full 6'7" in shoes. I'm 6'4.5" in shoes and he had me by an easy 2 inches. I recently saw a picture of Charles with "The Rock" and Charles utterly dwarfed him! I have to believe that "The Rock" is 6'3," at the very best straight out of bed in the morning. I've heard him claim 6'5" and there's absolutely no way unless he wears Marilyn Manson shoes!

Not true, guinness doesnt measure anything... they goes with billed height, i remember haystacks was listed 6'11 in some old book, but we know he was never above 6'5. And two of their recently listed tallest dogs was also wrongly listed. "giant george" 43 inches (he was 39) and gibson 42.2 (he was 37-38) just to give you some example!

For most Basketball players, take their listed height and remove 1,5 inches and you will have much closer to their true height.
For those that are over 7ft, usually there is not much tampering with their height and they get listed at their true heights.
Example: Manute Bol was 7ft 6.75 in, they listed him at 7ft 7in. Had they listed him at 7ft 9in, Guiness World Records would have refuted it, since they also measured, Mr. Bol.

There is actually a very good reason to lie down about your height (at least in the beginning). When a player is listed as a 6'4" and then you actually play against him and he's really 6'6'', that will intimidate some players.

I've met Charles a few times, on Philly's Mainline back in the day, and he appears larger than he is, I was surprised to find out I was taller than he, I'm 6'5". The man says he's 6-4 5/8 and having seen it for myself I'd say that's about right.

The man did not know how to quit on the floor, and maybe a little bit off the floor too, but he was a singular talent with a singular personality. I saw his "mugshot" picture, and he is at 6'8" exactly. Of course, that has to be with shoes on, but that would likely be 1"or2" at most. I think Barkley is a 6'6" barefoot...at the very least 6'5.5"

In 1993, Charles appeared to be 4.5" shorter than Mark West, and about the same difference taller than Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson. So if KJ is 6'1" and West is 6'10", then Charles is roughly 6'5.5". Nothing wrong with that, I've been listed at 6'2" since 97-98 but I'm really about 6'1.5".

Willie, everyone's seen that mugshot. But you only need click on the "Photos and Perspective" link to the left to understand what mugshot cameras do when they're at the same level as your chest.
Just use your common sense. Yes, Barkley looks 6'7" from the perspective of the mugshot, because the mugshot cameras are too low for him; mugshot cameras are usually at the proper height for a 5'10" man; even for a 6' tall guy, a mugshot might make you look 6'1" or taller.
E.g., in the mugshot with Plaxico Burress, the height chart shows Burress at around 6'7", when Burress is really a hair shorter than Charles Barkley. The camera also looks lower in Barkley's shot.
Willie, everyone's seen that mugshot. But you only need click on the "Photos and Perspective" link to the left to understand what mugshot cameras do when they're at the same level as your chest.
Just use your common sense. Yes, Barkley looks 6'7" from the perspective of the mugshot, because the mugshot cameras are too low for him; mugshot cameras are usually at the proper height for a 5'10" man; even for a 6' tall guy, a mugshot might make you look 6'1" or taller.
E.g., in the mugshot with Plaxico Burress, the height chart shows Burress at around 6'7", when Burress is really a hair shorter than Charles Barkley. The camera also looks lower in Barkley's shot.

I disagree with you strongly on the Malone matter. Even at the age he was 40, he still managed to iron out 20 points per game and 8 rebounds, more than Barkley could do at the age of 35. Also, Malone had by far better conditioning, going to training camp oftentimes with a 2.6% body fat.

Barkley claimed 6'4.5" back in 1992 and has claimed 6'4.75" several times since. Sports Illustrated says he measured 6-4 5/8 but aside from a 1993 NBA Finals picture with Jordan Chuck always looks tall. Another case of that is patrick Ewing who claimed 6'9" but aside from a picture with Shaq where Ewing looks only 6'9" and a picture with mutombo where he looks 6'10" Ewing has always looked 6'11" or 7'0" and nobody questioned his height before that claim. Tim Duncan is a center. He has spent the majority of his minutes at C since Robinson retired and really the twin towers lineup was just like playing two centers the same way the Warriors or Suns sometimes play 3 guards.
As for Stockton being the 2nd greatest PG ever? Well Isiah and Magic are hands down better.
