Picture Dolph/Sly (comment 07/Jan/17)=the shoes of Sly are looking very flat compared to Dolph's shoes. There is a story? about Rocky 4=in the movie the producers wanted that Dolph look like a giant next to Sly.
Mark said on 8/Jan/17
Really surprised that Dolph lost height. Almost two inches. And he has not yet reached the age of sixty yet, when usually height's loss happens . But at his peak he was a strong 6ft4.

lundgren is part of that group of action movie stars that have always lied about their heights (or people behind them did it.) Stallone, schwarzenegger, jc van damme, carl weathers, and also lou ferrigno, all with overestimated heights.

billed heights (peak):
dolph lundgren 6'4.75" (195cm)
s. stallone 5'9" (175cm)
arnold schwarzenegger 6'2" (188cm)
jc van damme 5'9" (175cm)
carl weathers 6'2"(188cm) !!!!!!
lou ferrigno 6'4.75" (195cm)

AHAHHAHAAH

REAL HEIGHTS:
dolph lundgren 6'2"-6'2.75" range (188-190cm)
s.stallone 5'7"-5'8" (170-173cm)
arnold schwarzenegger 5'11.5"-6'0.5"(182-184cm)
jc van damme 5'7"-5'8"(170-173cm)
carl weathers 5'10.5"-5'11" (179-180cm)
lou ferrigno 6'2"-6'2.75"(188-190cm)

stallone and lundgren:Click Here

backstage from "rocky" 1982:Click Here

ahhaha. burt young, first on the left, was 5'6" (168cm),
you can see stallone is max an inch taller!!! MR T was max max 5'10"(178cm) he also had cowboy boots on with 2 inches heels advantage, and carl weathers was as tall as MR T, but like i said MR T worn cowboy boots.

Lundgren and ferrigno were 2 tall guys, but 6'5" (195cm) was simply out of real.
weathers was just a couple of inches over the average (average man size is 5'9"(175cm)
Stallone and van damme were a little bit under the average
schwarzenegger was in the 6ft range, far from the fake 6'2"(188cm)

most don't have idea how tall is a legit (barefoot) 6'3"-6'4"-6'5"....

So i really hope this comedy about those action movie stars will be over as soon as possible.

The photo with Rob pretty much cements the fact that the majority of the Expendables, Stallone, Statham, Van Damme, Snipes, & Norris are all really in the 5'8 range & nowhere near the 5'10 most of them have been claiming.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 6/Jan/17
30 years ago he looked a strong 6ft4 guy at least
Shredder said on 6/Jan/17
Looking at this for a bit , he would look over 6'2 if you give him a fraction and if he stands better. Peak could have been 6'3.5 minimum
Dr. Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff said on 6/Jan/17
Noticable (more than few Millimeters) height is lost by degeneration of the spinal column.

Dolph shows no symptoms of degeneration (he stands and moves normally).

Conclusion: Dolph is the same maximum height he always once was.

Well, he looks 6'2'' max next to Rob.

@ Jordan87 Take a look at my previous comments, i stated that he looks about 185 WITH the lean and flatter footwear. I'm not denying he might be 188-189 range standing tall but i do believe 190cm is too much for him now.
Andrea said on 5/Jan/17
Peter, to me Rob looks right around Dolph's eyelevel... Click Here
He really doesn't look under 186, with all things considered!
msn187 said on 5/Jan/17
Let's be real here. He's not over 6'2 in those pics definitely; could even be a fraction under.
Jordan87 said on 4/Jan/17
Peter179,

Your forgetting dolph is leaning . With shoe advantage of Rob and the lean from dolph is a good 6-6.5" taller than Rob.
Arch Stanton said on 3/Jan/17
He does look just 6'1 and change here, but then it's one photo. Colin Salmon looks 6'3 in his photo with Rob, not reality. Dolph is a guy who would measure taller if stood his best for a measurement. Trust Rob that he wouldn't meassure under 189. But yeah you think of Dolph you'd think he'd look like George Romero did in the photo with Rob, nowhere near it now!

Dolph didn't, a fraction less than mine!

Not sure why you have him at a peak of 6'4.25" Rob. He wasn't over a flat 6'4" peak. Today is looking about 6'2".
Editor Rob: Danimal, in the 80's in stuff like The Punisher I think he could look an honest 6ft 4.

I agree. In the mid 80's/early 90's, he looked massive. But he states in your above quote that he's 193cm (not 198cm), which come out to 6'4" even(even though he told Joan Rivers on the Tonight Show in the mid-late 80's that he was 6'5.5"), so I'm just a little unclear as to where you got the additional .25" when he himself claimed 193cm?
Editor Rob
I thought he could pass for a solid 6ft 4, of course now he has waved goodbye to 6ft 3.
Peter 179cm said on 2/Jan/17
@ Andrea Rob is a good cm over Dolph's eyelevel.Even accounting footwear, the most he can pass for in the pic is 6'1 and that's pushing it.
Also,Brett looks about the same height-wise next to Rob,maybe 1cm smaller and certainly no more than that since both Bret and Dolph have big-sized heads.
Mid190s said on 2/Jan/17
This is quite reality shattering
Andrea said on 2/Jan/17
dmeyer, considering his eyelevel is probably 5 inches range (Rob did mention that his head is 10-10.25 inches long), I would say he looks a decent 6'1 with Rob... Add a quarter inch for footwear difference and he'd be 6'1.25-6'1.5 in the picture! But yeah certainly nowhere near his listing! I remember that guy who met Dolph at the same event and genuinely (he didn't sound like a troll from his other posts) thought he looked 5'11 in person... Now, 5'11 is quite absurd but I can see how some people that recently met him genuinely guessed him 6'-6'1 (maybe those who don't pay attention to footwear difference and look more at eyelevels, when observing heights)! That must be a shocker for those who expect a big 6'4-6'5 guy!!!
Andrea said on 1/Jan/17
Well, the height difference between Dolph and Brett is not that important... Looking at them with you, it is true that there isn't much difference between them, probably 0.5-0.75 inches at most! What is "curious" is that they both look a good inch shorter than what you think they looked! That's all... 😊

Doesn't look much taller than 6'1 today... but he was definately 6'3 in his prime. On camera gave a 6'4 impression but I never bought the 6'5 sightings. And it looks like Jay is honest about his own height so its unlikely the two photos can be wrong. 186cm-187cm for Dolph today.
Andrea said on 31/Dec/16
At least do not say that... 😅
You could make up a story and say something "I am wearing lifts" or "I'm on my tip toes there" but no... You say "he's standing pretty tall, he doesn't have any camera advantage there,..." How do you explain such a "big" discrepancy with their listings then? Dolph does look 186-7 range with you, Brett 185ish, so yeah there isn't much difference between them! And it's not an opinion, it is a FACT!!! What they really would measure under the stadio or look in person might be well be different, though! I agree... I'm just surprised that in so many photos a good inch went lost, for some reason!!! 😨
Editor Rob
there's always a chance with big Brett's handsome looks I overestimated him 😍

there really could be only half inch between brett/dolph, would love to measure both these guys.
MrTBlack said on 31/Dec/16
He has indeed lost height but honestly, I still think he'd clear 6'2" at his current height. It's just a shock because he is like one of the examples used in bodybuilding magazines as the epitome of fitness and I would have expected someone like him to only lose 1" max or half inch as he's nearing 60.
Arch Stanton said on 31/Dec/16
@Rob, when was this taken? Did Dolph sitll look very imposing in person despite the height loss? He still looks in excellent shape for any age!
Editor Rob
physically, I think his body is more worn, as though an Orc has taken a sledge hammer and whacked the top of his head.

He is still a relatively big guy though, but definitely some friends were surprised at how 'short' he was.
Arch Stanton said on 31/Dec/16
Dolph has had a hard life as well. I saw a lecture he hgave a few weeks back and he said that after Rocky IV up to the Expendables he was "mostly miserable" and though he still made action films he considered his career a failure. All those action films he made and the heavy training, lost height early. He must have slipped plenty of discs in his back during the making of his films. Even looks 6'1.5 at first glance above but he's dropping height. You'd expect Dolph to look way taller than Rob!
Pierre said on 30/Dec/16

Great you met him Rob !

I am not surprised by this listing at all, in that episode of Arrow he looked around 2 inches taller than Amell.

I have Stephen at 6'0.75" so give or take a small fraction it seems like a good listing. I sometimes think he is more 6'2.5" but again his posture at times is terrible for such a fit guy.
Andrea said on 30/Dec/16
Yeah, sometimes pictures don't show the real difference... To be fair, it's very rare that celebrities look as tall as listed next to Rob... They generally do look 0.25-0.75 inches shorter than their listings with Big Rob but there are some that look over an inch shorter for some reason! People like Adam Copeland, Brett Dalton or Dolph spring to mind... The photo only proofs that Rob met them and all you can do is trust Rob's estimate!
Editor Rob

usually with a taller guy I'm at a camera disadvantage, but with a guy like Dalton, the camera was high enough to make nobody have an advantage.

to be fair, Dolph really didn't seem much taller than Brett though!

Gerry said on 29/Dec/16
Ive never understood these 6-5 claims for Dolph, the fact is yes he looked tall but around 6-3 max! He's ectomorphic in build he's not a mesomorph by any means so the muscle he has had he's had to work for it but he's never been huge physique wise. In universal soldier he is noticeably shorter than 6-5.5 Ralf Moeller who is standing behind him in the line. The 6-5 claims are ridiculous, Dolph one of these guys who is tall but clearly still feels the need to add 2" to his actual height
Jordan87 said on 29/Dec/16
If he stood straight with Rob I could see 6'2-1/2" which would put him around 6'3-1/2" Peak. In his prime its very well possible he was not even 6'4. I never believed the 6'5 or 6'6 crap.

Dolph however is still in incredible shape at his age. AT 40 years old most people are lucky to still have his build, and his shoulders are still extremely wide. Whether he was 6'3. 6'4, or 6'5, he was a great choice for Drago and carried great body language and poise during that film. Was quite the threatening Villain i'd say. I believed he said he weighed between 230 and 240 for the Drago Role, and his BF percentage had to be really low.
Peter 179cm said on 29/Dec/16
It's simple guys,he looks 184-185cm with Big Rob with slighly less footwear and also drops abit more height.Even if he dropped 3cm more than Rob,he wouldn't be over 188.At least that's what the picture suggests.
berta said on 29/Dec/16
peaka maybe 193 ore slighly under but could look 194 most of the time in movies. BUt hard to believe he was that tall he cant loose 5 cm in this age. now he looks 189-190. In the photo i would say he looks about the height my 188 father would look maybe 1 cm shorter than my father. but he looses height in it. Beside that 186-87 guy you can see that he is 189-190 range still.
jessman said on 28/Dec/16
It's odd. Rob is at his eye-level and this would suggest Dolph is at about 186 cm. But Rob is the height expert in my opinion and has enough familiarity with heights to call it correctly. So if it's 189cm today, my question is what was it at his peak? I do recall Dolph being described as 6'6 in the 1980s. Maybe he was a weak 6'4 or maybe strong 6'3 (192cm). I'm not sure he was ever 6'5.
123 said on 28/Dec/16
I bet you guys thought i was trolling when I estimated Dolph at Six-two MAX, well you can't say that now can you, Rob said he was only 3 cm taller than Big Al who was measured at 6'1", soooooo.......... and lets not forget rob said he could be as low as 6'2 1/2", in light of this new evidence I will concede that Dolph is probably a fraction more than was previously estimated at 6'2 1/4"-6'2 1/2"MAX as opposed to the 1cm less i previously estimated him as, LOL at the people who still think he is 6'3" in light of all this new evidence, I feel bad for Dolph he did used to be VERY tall losing almost two inches at his age is rough he still ain't that old LOL

most likely

peak 6'3 3/4"

now 6'2 1/4"
Shredder said on 27/Dec/16
Sometimes pics are not the true telling of what a person looks in person or measures. Me and Rob both agree that Michael Biehn is over 5'11 in any case. Steven Yeun in person looks over 5'8.
Peter 179cm said on 27/Dec/16
6'2 flat or 188cm is still a possibility then, i just can't believe an 189-190 range for Dolph now.
James B said on 27/Dec/16
Losing 3.75 cm at age 59 is a lot I must say cause even clint Eastwood at the same age only lost 1cm from his peak. But then anythings possible I mean look at hulk hogan at only age 63 he is gone from 6'6 to a less remarkable height of 6'3.

I'd imagine Dolph would probably still be comftably in the 6'3 range if it wasn't for years of heavy weight lifting and action film roles.. i am guessing Dolph will be no taller than 5'11 by his late 80s.

I think its to be expected for very tall people to lose more height at a younger age.
Andrea said on 27/Dec/16
No need to "blur" his face! 😋 I've already seen that guy with Dolph because I'm sure you posted him on here a few years ago (on Henry Ian Cusick's page) and you said he looked about 186 in person... Yeah, Dolph does look a bit taller in the photo, maybe not as much as 3 cms though! Too bad this photo doesn't show his real height, then! Quite useless for "proving" he'd still measure near 6'3! You do hold your own next to Dolph 😉
Editor Rob
You could still make an argument of 189 for Dolph, I wouldn't say it was impossible...
Andrea said on 27/Dec/16
So, it's all about "feelings"? The question is: is he dropping some height in this picture or not? He really doesn't look more than 186-7, well unless his eyelevel is over 6 inches range, then yeah he wouldn't be less than 6'2.5! Again, did he look near an inch taller than the "6'2 version" of the plumber?
Editor Rob
yes Andrea, I think he is dropping a bit more than me and when measured may well hit near 190 on the nose.

I managed to watch Dolph with a few folk, remember This bloke...he's a con mate and when Dolph greeted him he was about 3cm taller...bear in mind that guy is 186-7 zone up close.
Jordan87 said on 27/Dec/16
Rob, Based on eye level only, doesn't Dolph have you by about 6" there? ( COmparing only eye levels).

Reason I ask is because your right, with his head shape/Size this is difficult. I could see him at 6'2.75ish if he straightened up a bit.

Not sure why he looks shorter with Big Jay * 5'7.75"* and he is standing straighter than he is with you. Very Odd to me.
Peter 179cm said on 27/Dec/16
So Rob,you're saying he's losing 5cm of height with you?? Cause honestly it doesn't look like it given you reach his eyeline in the pic.Maybe you overestimated him?
Editor Rob
Peter, I don't think I'd overestimate, he was walking about like a 6ft 2 range man. I think he will measure taller than he looks, whether it would be as low as 6ft 2 and change or as high as 6ft 2.75, that's the debate really!

With a decent size head on him (10.25 and quite wide) I can see how he gives a smaller impression to people.
Shredder said on 27/Dec/16
Rob , I measured my a friend of mine at 2 am ( we were up all day) at just under 5'8 ( somewhere between 5'7.75 and 5'8 flat , but he was in conserve , so what height do you think is fair for him midday? Just 5'7.5 or 5'7.75? Before measuring him I guessed him he was about 5'8 flat.
Editor Rob
he could hold a 5ft 8 look most of the day, if you caught him at 11am maybe he would creep near 5ft 8.25.

back to Dolph, his head size in person is a solid 10 inch, similar to Ryan McPartlin...I think in photos it can make him seem shorter.
Andrea said on 26/Dec/16
So, what do you think is it going on this time? I have seen him with other congoers and he generally does look around the same range he looks with both you and Big Jay!!! Did he look near a couple inches taller than Big Al and near an inch taller than the plumber in person?
Editor Rob
he was at least 3cm taller than Big Al, I wouldn't rule out 6ft 2.5 for him, but I feel if you measured big Dolph he'd come out a fraction under 6ft 3.
Peter 179cm said on 26/Dec/16
Btw,Hasselhoff looks a good 7-8cm taller than Dolph next to Rob...Even if posture plays a role, that's still ways off the obvious-that Dolph is listed almost 6'3 yet struggles to look even near 6'1 with a verified 5'8 man.
Peter 179cm said on 26/Dec/16
Finally,a picture we can work with-Dolph looks similar with Stephen Amell and Carl Weathers next to Rob:around 184cm.Come on now Rob,lets be honest and say he's nowhere near 190cm even if he had footwear and posture disadvantage...He's a weak 6'2 at most which makes him 187cm,and that's the absolute max i'd argue for him now after looking at the pic.Peak probably no more than 190-191cm so basically 6'3 flat.He was never near 6'4 or 6'5 that's certain.
James B said on 26/Dec/16
With rob I'd say he looks 6'1.5

Jordan87 said on 26/Dec/16
Looked at the new pic on my phone before, now on my desktop the height different looks smaller.

Rob would you agree he was leaning more than you?

Id give him 6'2.5" in the pic. Never 6'5. Likely 6'3.5" as a peak. So yes , Jervis he was pretty much hyping his height up when he said 6'5, as all actors do, and most men.
Hypado said on 26/Dec/16
A great picture, Dolph still looking Tall.
Andrea said on 26/Dec/16
Great picture, Rob! But let's be honest... He looks nowhere near 6'2.75 with you (and this honestly doesn't surprise me at all)!
You look right around his eyelevel in the photo... I can believe his eyelevel is more 5 inches range than say 4.5, add 1/4 inch for footwear difference and he certainly looks more 6'1.25-6'1.5 (which btw is the same range he can look with Big Jay)!!!
If you tell me he's losing nearly 1.5 inches in posture or whatever (like that Sam Coleman guy), I can buy this listing! Otherwise...
If a guy like Tom Welling looked this short with you, I'd be SHOCKED!!!
Editor Rob
Andrea, at his tallest he is over 6ft 2.

I'm still surprised a guy like Hoff who 6 years or something older still looked noticeably taller in person than Dolph, who is much fitter you'd think!

Hate to say this. He looks a weak 6'1" in the picture with Rob, and not much taller in the pic with Jay.
Jordan87 said on 25/Dec/16
Nice pic rob!!!! This should be interesting. Perhaps with his lean ( looks like he is dropping some posture) and the fact that you have 1/2" more footwear should put him at around 6.5" taller ?

He looks taller with you then with big j imo.
Shredder said on 25/Dec/16

He's been constantly remarked as a giant in movies. Even in movies after 2010 ( like the Expendables) he's been mentioned as that really big guy. If his current height is true, then I don't understand the reasoning. Terry Crews is literally a fraction shorter than Dolph. Liam Hemsworth is half an inch taller than Dolph and he didn't get any tall comments in Expendables. I have two former classmates exactly the same height as he- yes, they're tall, but not giants.
Ren said on 25/Dec/16
Rob, when your are pulling this height chart. I am not sure how tall he could be. And do this soon

I do think Dolph has lost 3cm of height, and the average guess here I think is very close to what he will measure.

Dolphs body looks very badly deformed you can definitely tell that he has lost serious height from his present proportions six-three and a half to six-two MAX today
James B said on 15/Dec/16
Arch come on man get things into perspective telling apart 6'4.25 from 6'4.5 is very difficult lol.

A guy like dolph with his build and posture could have been easily pulled of looking taller than he actually was
Arch Stanton said on 14/Dec/16
@Rob, if he looked 4 cm taller than Weathers in person, wouldn't that make him 189cm?
Editor Rob
yes Arch, he is likely a fraction shy of 6ft 3 now.
Johan said on 12/Dec/16
The guy had no clue how to convert metric to feet/inches. He has never claimed 195+ even, I always read 193-194 cm.

His peak height is a bit tricky as in some films he did have big boots and look 6'5" ( joshua tree for example) but in Showdown in Little Tokyo he was barefoot next to a legit 5'11" guy. He didn't look less than 6'4" there.

His current height was a mystery to me as he can look as low as 6'2" today. However I found another piece of evidence supporting his current listing.

He appeared in Season 5 of Arrow as a russian crimeboss who gets taken hostage by 6'1" listed Stephen Amell.

Now I believe that Stephen is a bit less perhaps even 6'0.5" but Dolph had 2 inches on him.

Rob has met Stephen and gave him 6'1" so that should end the 6'1" today guesses.

His posture isn't the best in that scene and Stephen has more footwear and yet he still looks just as tall as David Ramsay next to him.

6'2.5" maybe but thats minimum for my guess.

Jervis,

I like Dolph A Lot seems like a Humble Fella compared to most American Celebrities who are largely full of Crap.

If I cam wrong, He would have to have had some injuries or Surgeries b/c the Man doesn't even pull off 6'2 Nowadays, and a 3" loss by 60 is Really harsh so Something doesn't Line up.
Arch Stanton said on 8/Dec/16
@Jervis, I wouldn't look too much into the "6'3 peak" claimers. It was obvious he was taller than that, and he'd never have made up 6'3 being the limit for Rocky, you can imagine Stallone fearing a super tall guy initially!! In the end it was obivous that they picked Dolph because he was bigger than 6'3 and they exploited it in the film by making Drago even bigger and more imposing. I believe Dolph got measured at 6'5.5 in shoes in the 80s and went with that. He also claimed 6'5, so possible he masured betwneen both of those, so perhaps Rob's 6'4.25 is spot on. I still think 6'4.5 though, see Showdown in Little Tokyo and he really looked that with the others.

Here's the clip Jervis is talking about
Look at his face at around the 50 second mark,he's clearly blatantly lying about his height. He's 6ft4 flat and nothing more (peak)

Zero chance he's 6ft5.5
jervis said on 7/Dec/16
He claimed 6ft5.5 on the Joan Rivers show, but if he was as low as 6ft3, as some people are claiming here, thats 2.5 inches extra plus an avrage 1 inch for heel height making 6ft6.5?

Jordan87 said on 28/Nov/16
Jervis,

Based on the Picture above with Jay, and How tall DOlph currently looks with 6'0 Carl Weathers ( Recent-Check the site, Carl is 6'0). Dolph is not much over 6'1. That cannot yield a prime 6'4 Man, let alone a 6'5 man without serious health Problems ( Dave Prowse.)

Plus Dolph is only 60. Prowse is 80 so I cant see major height loss. Possibly a inch, maybe 2, but that's a stretch. Average fellow Dolph's age looses 3/4". For him to even loose 1.5" He would need major Injuries and Surgeries and even that would only put him around 6'3 in his prime which is were I have him.

Yes he Towered Sly, who was around 5'8-5'9 on a good day.

My current Estimate for Dolph is 6'1-6'2, with a 6'3ish peak.
Peter 179cm said on 26/Nov/16
@ jervis Even though they made him look 200cm plus next to 174-175 peak Stallone. It's all about camera angles-i just watched Indiana Jones and the last Crusade and Ford looked taller than Connery in the majority of the film sometimes just the same height even though Ford was probably 184 peak and Connery still around 187-188 in 1989.
jervis said on 25/Nov/16

He mentioned several times that he was refused consideration at the initial queue line-up for a part in what became ROCKY IV. He said he was asked his height and he mentioned 6'5", but they required someone who was 6'3" or less, so he was refused consideration and used another route for the part in the film.

I see this as firm indication he was actually noticebly more that 6'3" at some time. (Better than any other opinions from photographic material)

Dolph was listed at 6 6 and over including his Royal Swedish Marine or whatever the call it mandatory military.
He started downgrading to 6 4 like he said due to getting turned down.
If you watch his old pre steroid and bodybuilding movies he was freaking huge towering over everything.
He has undoubtedly shrunk from previous stated hobbies and being over 50 you guys who say 6 2 are jealous and its pathetic.
He also has bad posture so gotta wait to get good angle.
Peter 179cm said on 8/Oct/16
@ Leonardo 1.73m He can pass for 185-186cm next to 172 Jay but it's implied that he's not standing very well so he could be losing about 2-3cm of total height. He may still be near the 190 mark like 188-189 range if he stood tall for a measurement, though.
Jordan87 said on 8/Oct/16
I'd say he looks 5.5 " on big jay . Not positive he is dropping posture but it's surprising to me he doesn't look taller . I'd also think 6'3 for peak is possible. Let's say he is no taller than 6'2 with jay here he really lost more than 2" of height ? I'd say 6'3-6'4 peak I'm doubting 6'5 at this point .

He was only a couple inches taller then Carl Weathers in rocky 4. Stallone is not very tall its easy to dwarf him. Dolph is a tall man but not as gigantic as he appeared to be in Rocky IV. I don't believe he was ever any bigger then about 6'3 barefoot. Personally I don't believe he was ever over 6'4. A definite roid user too although all the guys in the Rocky movies were.

Dolph I think would be a friendly guy in general and not that intimidating, but I definitely see how if threatened or in a tricky situation he could be pretty scary if he needed to be. As you say, not a guy you'd want to mess with. I heard that his house got burgled in Malaga and his family held at gunpoint and when the robbers found out it was Dolph's family they fled on the spot.

He seemed very tall in Rocky IV (like terminator lol) - 6'5 for sure. In Red Scorpion it was hard to say, he towered over every character but next to Al White who is said to be 6'2, he seemed a little bit shorter.

I think he was at least 6'4 in his peak (more to 6'5 imo), and now 6'3. He still seems pretty tall and everything depends on the angle and posture so it's hard to say what is right.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 23/Sep/16
I think Dolph's height loss has to be injury-related. He is a very fit guy. Without those he'd still be 6ft4 today.

The real question is whether or not he really cleared 6ft4 at peak?

He would have been taller than a peak Hasselhoff I have no doubts at all. It has to be said however he can look 6'2" range today.

I guessed 6'2.5" from several pics online but since he is listed 6'3" maybe 6'2.75" - 190 cm would be a start, just like The Rock .

@Danimal, watch Showdown in Little Tokyo, 5 inches on 5'11 and change Brandon Lee and easily 6 inches in boots on 5'11 Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa barefoot. Also Dolph claimed 6'5.5 himself in the 80s, which I believe is a genuine shoe measurement. 6'4.5 is more arguable than 6'4 flat peak, but 6'4.25 is reasonable compromise. I'm also not seeing 6'2 flat or less today either. When he stands his best he looks around 6'3. Possible his lowest is now 6'2.5 or something though.

Peterson188cm I think the picture with Carl Weathers confirms my experience at the LLFC. Lundgren is barely 6ft now when I stood next to him and Weathers too who was around that height but 5ft 11 would not be unrealistic. In fact the height difference was about the same in their fight way back in Rocky IV minus the camera tricks. No way was Lundgren ever 6ft 5 as he ludicrously asserts. You just don't lose that much height. It suited the publicity for Rocky IV to suggest he was and Lundgren clearly started to believe it. If Lundgren is 6ft 3 now then I am 6ft 1 and not 5ft 9!

At the same time, considering he probably wasn't any less than 6'4 when younger, i doubt he has shrunk near 3 inches by now!

For a guy who claimed to have once been 6'5.5" on the Joan Rivers show in the mid 80's, I wonder if his later 6'4" height claim was even an exaggeration considering he looked MAX 6'2"-6'3" next to Conan a few years ago. He has certainly lost a good chunk of height I just don't understand why as he has kept himself pretty healthy and fit.

In his prime Dolph worked out excessively, a gym rat, always lifting. That combined with doing his own stunts and wear and tear in action roles no doubt contributed to the early height loss.

He was no less than 6ft4 but I think they used camera tricks to make the "Ivan Drago" character more towering.
Luke said on 23/Mar/16
I'd say in the 80s he was 6'4 and a bit but was bolstered up to 6'5 or even 6'6. it made him a larger than life character and made Sylvester Stallone appear larger than he actually was in rocky 4. We have to remember that Sylvester Stallone would never have been in the heavyweight division. 5'8 and maybe 185lbs?
berta said on 22/Mar/16
i Think he was a guy that they wanted to make bigger than he was after rocky. ralp moeller was about 4 cm taller. i Think he was weak 193 at peak and now he is 190. i live in sweden and he is on tv sometimes. in one show he was with a famous tv personality who is 176 and he looked about 10 cm taller maybe a Little more. so cant se him taller than 190 now. And with Conan he looked 190.
Rocky said on 19/Mar/16

having rewatched Punisher and Showdown in Little Tokyo it's not hard to believe Dolph being comfortably in 6ft 4+ range.

Even today as a still very fit guy, at his age he's lost a far greater amount of height than you'd expect.

met Mr. Lundgren while I was traveling through Asia in the mid 1980's
Nice fellow - had a brief chat poolside at a hotel. Local media was shooting an interview with him and
I wandered in. Sat, watched, met and spoke with him afterwards. Smart, athletic fellow who happened into
the acting business. Could have done many things. But he is not close to 6'5". I'm 6'2" and looked eye to eye w/him.

Obviously taller and more well built than David

I Think Dolph is shrinking so mutch because he have very low testosterone and high estrogen in the body. He barely have any beard. Low testosteron makes people shrink faster. thats why Stallone hasnt shrunk more than a cm at most ( growth hormone)

I saw him at O'Hare airport a while back, maybe 3 years ago, and he was a solid 2 to 2.5 inches taller than me, and I am 73" at mid day. I was wearing sneakers that give an inch and he had boots on, so I think it was pretty even. My guess would be 6' 3' to 6'3.25" at mid day for Dolph. I think he could give Kevin Sorbo a run for his money.
MrTBlack said on 13/Oct/15
Nope, was taller than Terry Crews who's 6'2" by at least an inch. Would say he was 6'4" solid at peak and a little under today.

Yeah but he doesn't look over 186 with Big Jay in the pic, although i still believe he would measure 188-189 range standing tall, and probably was about 193 at his peak.Still losing 4-5cm of height is alot if he didn't go through a serious injury that required a disc removal from his spine(my cousin lost about 2-3cm permanently after a motorcycle accident that needed an emergency surgery in his hip,so i kind of know what's like).

WAS 6'4" at his absolute peak, which is what he was listed at on the back cover of my Rocky 4 VHS tape. Looks to be 6'1" today. It's possible he's slightly taller than that, but not by much. It's a mystery how he's lost that much height, considering the average man his age will have lost just under 1" MAX. Scary to think what he's be down to in the next 10 years.

Jay is standing so straight he looks like he's about to topple over!! haha Jay calm down you'll cause yourself injury. Dolph looks to be more relaxed, I can see him being 188cm still with matching posture I just think the angle of the photo mixed with Jay pushing to his max makes Dolph look shorter than he is. 193cm peak and shrank to 188cm. What do you think Rob?
Editor Rob
it's of course a one off with this pic, sometimes seeing someone in person you can get a better sense of their height.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 25/Jun/15
Solid 194cm is believable watching Rocky IV and A View To A Kill in which he makes a brief appearance. Without those injuries, I'm sure he'd still be around that today.

Jesus Rob this guy is losing height fast isn't he? He will outdo Clint Eastwood in terms of height loss. When he reaches Clint's current age he could be under 6ft.

I think more genetic then heavy weight lifting/stunts.
Editor Rob
maybe doing more B-movie role and more of your own stunts takes a toll over 20 years...but it is true that some people might genetically be predestined to lose height more than others. The thing is, doesn't Dolph have a fitness book he wrote recently...
Andrea said on 6/May/15

Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa who Rob met and guessed 5'11 did look taller next to him than Lee. In the bath scene it looks like almost 7 inches between them but Dolph has footwear of 1 inch + while Cary was barefoot. So maybe he was 194-195 at his peak.

@Arch Stanton

I would have to watch it again but i thought closer to 6'5 than 6'4. Definetly a 5 in difference there though at least. He didnt reach his eyelevel. Though im not sure on Brandon Lee being 5'11.5 either.

Arch Stanton said on 1/May/15
Dolph's excessive training is really beginning to show now with the height loss, he's an extremely fit and healthy guy who should't really have lost this much in his 50s (he can look as low as 6'2" range now), he's what 5 years younger than the Hoff who has only lost half an inch at most?
Editor Rob
sometimes doing stunts and big weights for a long period can impact your spine. Or he could be genetically susceptible to greater height loss and his roles/activities have accelerated it?
Arch Stanton said on 1/May/15
@ 184.3 Dolph had about 5 inches on Brandon who was around 5'11.5 to 6'4.5 makes most sense. But yeah, anybody claiming Dolph was only ever 6'3 or 6'4" really can't have seen him back then!
Arch Stanton said on 1/May/15
Yes, I think we can assume he's legit, actually I'd thought he looked taller than 172cm here and nearer 5 ft 9! As somebody said an 80s Dolph would have absolutely towered a weak 5'8 guy. I don't think Dolph ever lied about his height in all honesty though. He claimed 6 ft 5 and 6'5.5 but given that most actors don't think anything about barefoot height and are usually measured in shoes I'd guess he got measured at both. I think Dolph said "about 6'5 and a half" once on that show. I think we can assume that was in shoes he got measured at so really about 6'4.5 and as he claimed 6'5" too 6'4.25 in between does actually seem about right. Like Goldblum though I'd probably give him a rounder 6'4.5. In his 90s films Dolph could look more 6'4" but in the 80s he did give the illusion of a legit 6'5" I thought. With Brandon Lee and Cary he was looking roughly 6'4.5 though, that was 1991.
Arch Stanton said on 30/Apr/15

it's a rare exception, like for big Alex aswell...

big Jay has measured within the 172cm range, I think he got almost 5ft 8 in his Tom Cruise video, so I'd say he was in the almost 5ft 8 zone.
