Sly moved around in cobra pretty well on munsters !! He runs around in rambo in massive boots !! He ran around in over the top on massive boots !! He danced on stage in rhinestone pretty good on massive lifts ! Hes fought in the ring on weged up boxing shoes !! I think i made my point ! I also never claim he wears 6-7 inch shoes !! But he does wear 3-4 inch plus ,,particually back in the day ! Ive always put him at 5'7 cause of his footwear of past & present ,,for example ,, sly & carl weathers in the rocky movies always looked 2-3 inches apart ,, but when you recently saw them at a golden globe event the height difference was very noticable ,,(and its not an age thing or sly losing height) cause theres a video of Carl & Sly practicing the fight for rocky in the 70's & carl is towering over sly .. everyone has there opinions here & so do i ,, and my belief is he is shorter than expected not taller !!!

Hey frankie do you know a site that sells 7inch - 8inch type of elevator shoes ? I am looking forward to try them since I am 5ft8.5 normally maybe I can pull of 6ft2 in weddings. He replied I could make Arthur but you cant walk with them so better buy a photoshop program to make yourself that much taller. He also said he is the same height as Rob but he is thinking Rob weared 1.2inches lifts in his socks that measurment day. So Sly can maybe be 5ft7 ıf he wears 1inch lifts in his socks 5cm heeled cowboy boots and 3inch internal lifts = 5FT7 sly appeared 5ft11 in 1980s.. Thats the only possibility that comes into my mind. But I only had one confusion Frankie how Sly could able to run in movies or jumped , punched , kicked you know that movements ? Can you explain how a person can run with 6inch elevator shoes ? I am not offensing you are a nice member of the site but nearly most of us wonders you to explain your 5ft7 claim with logic ? Also last summer you dropped your claim to 5ft6.75 range. It's true Dolph looks shorter with Rob, but look at Dolph with Rob's 6'2" friend when he stands straight: Click Here Dolph doesn't look under 190 cm there and can still look 6'3", but I'm fine with 190 and can't really argue with a strong 189 either, but you have to be aware of putting too much stock into one photo. A tall man like Dolph can lose quite a bit slouching. And correct, Danimal. Brigitte has claimed 6'1" many times as well. I'd bet she's somewhere around 184 cm. You can't always assume with very tall women that they're always no taller than they're lowest claim.

Rob prooved millions of times that the most a person get with elevator shoes is 10cm. So If a person wears that 5inch ones If he is 170cm he can mostly measure 180cm in stadiometer. And just try to walk with that 5inch monsters, just try to run with them , just try to wear them in action movies... SO 5FT7 İS NO SENSE.. Just try to walk with that dons 5inch monsters you will look like a red army commander stalin. I just want all of my friends in this forum to think logically. Dolph loses height slouching and he's shrunk noticeably since even the first 2 Expendables when he was still around 191 cm, possibly still near 192, while Dolph is now 190 cm max, possibly 189. Pierre, I thought Sly's boots looked like they added maybe 1.5", but no more. Woody might have 0.75" sneakers. Either way, Sly would still have to be around 5'9" there considering. Rob is 100% right, still 5'8" minimum and 5'8.5" max nowadays. He was still at least 5'8.5" in 2014 and peak was exactly as Brigitte Nielsen said - 174-175 cm. Just as Rob has Eddie Murphy spot on at 176 cm right in between Brigitte Nielsen's guess, 5'8.75" or a weak 5'9" peak is the best guess for Sly, though with his lifts, he looked taller than Murphy in the 80's: Click Here To show no less than 174 cm peak, with James Caan who was about 5'9" at 63 and Mark Wahlberg who could be a flat 5'8" or 5'7.5" minimum, all 3 in golf shoes: Click Here Click Here Stallone couldn't put big enough lifts in golf shoes to argue that he wasn't taller than Wahlberg. Correct about Cop Land, he didn't look taller than 5'9" in it, imo. As for Nighthawks, Billy easily looked taller in the club scene when they're looking for Hauer and at about 5'11" peak, Billy was at least a couple inches taller than Sly, but they actually looked similar in a couple of scenes too. One was walking through the door to see Lindsay Wagner's character and another was when one of the 2 kicks a car. As for Kojak, Telly wore 2" heeled boots with lifts, presumably to look his claimed 6'1", so we're not comparing Sly to a 5'10" or 5'11" Telly. Plus, the one scene they're face to face when Sly's character is cleared of a shooting, Telly is noticeably closer to the camera making his head look abnormally large. The only other scene I can think of is when one walks by the other standing near a door in the station and the difference didn't seem like much, but comparisons with one standing and the other walking aren't good. 5'8.5" minimum and 5'9" max makes the most sense for peak though and likely a half inch shorter today. As for the 5'7" nonsense, here's a young unknown 25 year old Sly and Woody Allen: Click Here Sly has around 1 cm footwear advantage, but he literally towers over Woody and is looking right over his head. There are three movies which reveal Stallone's true height and prove that his estimated stature of 5'10" is a dummy. His cameo appearance in the Kojak show with Telly Savalas, who at 5'11" was noticeably taller than Stallone by some two inches, the movie Nighthawks in which Stallone's co-star Billy Dee Williams who at 5'11", was still marginally taller than him despite Stallone's wearing of cuban heels and Copland, where we see Ray Liotta who at just 6', towered Stallone by some three inches. Taking into account Stallone was probably wearing lifts in all of those movies, his estimated height of 5'10" simply does not read true and he could be as short as 5'8", minus footwear..

Sylvester was on the TV late last week in 2 separate films, and though I was busying myself with the TV on in the background, I couldn't help but notice what a fine physique he had well into middle age. Yesterday's film was from 1999 and called 'Universal Soldier: The Return'.
This time round, Sylvester can have an estimate of 5ft9.5 for his peak and 5ft8.5 for his height as he stands now. He looks after himself, so I don't think he's shrunk much.

Even of De Niro was only 5'7" flat for Grudge Match then Sly still looked 5'8.5" there, which I think is more accurate though I don't think De Niro was act that short yet. Hulk Hogan also said Sly was 5'8" in his book, which is much more realistic, but Sly and Hulk were a good 8.5 or 9 inches apart in their prime, nearly a head, so not in a position to tell how tall they were exactly. As for Goldman, it could be confirmation bias, he thought it was "delicious"(his word, certainly not mine!) hearing Sly was 5'7" and set out to "prove it."

I think De Niro was around 5'8" prime and wore lifts a lot and now he is 5'6". See him with Zac Efron, he doesn't look only .75" shorter, he looks 2.5" shorter due to poor posture. 5 years ago he still managed to look about 5'7" and that was evident in the movie with Statham and Owen. And by the way, that's another evidence of Statham not being over 5'8" especially when looking at premier photos with Clive Owen.

Danimal, I'd agree that 5'7" is possible for De Niro today in 2017 at 73 years old, but Grudge Match came out when De Niro was exactly 70, you can lose noticeable height in 3 years at that age. You know the average shown by that survey better than anyone for 70 year Olds was 1.25". I'm not exactly sure how tall De Niro was peak, certainly not over 5'9", but let's say he was 5'9", even if he lost a bit more than average, he'd be the 5'7.5" I gave him in that photo with Stallone. As for De Niro's height 3+ years later, I'll have to look at him more, all I can say is old man posture can make you look about an inch shorter.

I normally subtract 1.2"/2" for a 70/80 year old man and 2"/3.25" for a 70/80 year old woman, but in De Niro's case, he appears to have lost more than the average. Look at Arnold. Imo, he's lost a full 3" since his prime and he's 4 years younger than Bobby D.

If Stallone was really 5'9" peak, or close to it at least, then why did William Goldman state that Stallone was only 5'7"? Could it have been Sly's posture? What's even stranger is I also remember reading him at 5'7" and 195 lbs in a magazine back in the late 80's - which certainly surprised me at the time, and not to forget Hogan even put Sly at 5'6"-5'7"!

Rob, what would you say is the most probable reason they'd guess him that low? I must admit, his posture just seems too great and authoritative to have played a part in that...

I thought I was a Sly fan, but Loop has me beat as I must confess, I wouldn't recognize Sly's back in a back lineup. Although the 2 photos Arthur posted aren't good for comparing height as Sly is farther from the camera with Gazarra and close with Brigitte + they're walking, I have to agree with his post 100%. There is 1 good scene for comparing Sly to Gazarra when they're face to face. They have hats on in the scene, but based on their eye level, Sly was between 1" and 1.5" shorter. He could look similar to Brigitte who mostly had flat footwear in Cobra while Sly wore biker boots with about a 1.5" heel that we can be 99% sure had lifts inside. I've suspected for a while that Brigitte told us exactly how tall Sly was since she didn't seem bitter in that 2003 video and her Eddie Murphy guess shows she has a good perception of height and nobody was in a better position to know how tall Sly was than Brigitte. If we go in between her range, we get 174.5 cm, which would be near 5'8.75", which seems most likely, even the high at 175 cm would truly be a weak 5'9" while 174 cm or exactly 5'8.5" could have been his lowest. Now at age 70, I think he could have dropped to a strong 173 cm range the last couple of years and might measure 5'8" or 5'8.25" depending on whether it's midday or evening.

I am so proud of the generall average guess statistic in here. But I was amazed even though there are lots of people saying still saying 5ft10 and 5ft7 guesses for Sly but the average guess is a victory for this site.. 175.1 CM PEAK 173 CM NOW Straight to the point and same as my guess.. I think Sly still doesnt drop to 172.7 cm or that low still in 2017. I think the worst he can drop is around 1.72.9cm - 173.2 cm range . And I am sure he still can manages to measure 175cm after 12 hours of sleep. So 174cm listing is the best for him.. And keep in mind maybe he doesnt wear lifts like past but he never wears flats thats also the fact. So his normal shoes are already thick liftless.. He never wears anything lower than 1inch. So there is no way he can be seen under 5ft8.25 in his daily life. Also I recently looked his beverly hills daily life photos he still seems to pull of a cool 5ft9 in this videos. And some people here saying Sly vs Cruise İn my opinion Sly will still win. There is a photo that statham and cruise stands face to face and Statham looks clearly 1inch taller. And taking into account that Sly never appears shorter than statham even without his lifts. Same as cruise is a joke.

Pierre, as I said, we can consider Davi a 182 cm guy when he slouches. Michael Shannon claims 6'4" and is listed at 6'3.5" here, I don't know as I haven't looked at him, buy I wouldn't doubt it with ghat huge head! Sly has lifts in The Expendables pic with Davi, but then he looks 5'11". In the pic with Shannon and Davi, Sly has modest shoes, but is still much taller than 5'7". Sly can still look 5'8.5" in normal shoes with 5'10.5" Michael B. Danimal, I'd agree that 5'7" is possible for De Niro today in 2017 at 73 years old, but Grudge Match came out when De Niro was exactly 70, you can lose noticeable height in 3 years at that age. You know the average shown by that survey better than anyone for 70 year Olds was 1.25". I'm not exactly sure how tall De Niro was peak, certainly not over 5'9", but let's say he was 5'9", even if he lost a bit more than average, he'd be the 5'7.5" I gave him in that photo with Stallone. As for De Niro's height 3+ years later, I'll have to look at him more, all I can say is old man posture can make you look about an inch shorter.

GP, well Sly looks 181 cm there with Leonard in sneakers and lifts with his posture so I wouldn't doubt some camera advantage, but he looks about 5'11" in those same shoes other full body shots with Randy Couture. No picture is perfect, but I think those are pretty solid ones. As for Cop Land, Sly doesn't look over 5'9" in that with his weight, normal footwear and posture playing a drunk, which makes sense as I now believe 5'9" was his max peak, but likely a fraction under. I've seen the movie a number of times since it's quite a good film, but I don't remember them standing close for a good comparison in that scene. However there is the scene in the beginning where Liotta helps Sly to his car with Sly in flip flops that give almost no height and Liotta in some kind of thinner regular shoe (too dark to tell) and posture makes it impossible to tell exactly, but the difference there is 3" max since when Sly's head is up, it certainly comes above Liotta's eye brows. If Liotta was 5'11.5", and I doubt he was under that since he could look 6 feet, then Sly was 5'8.5" minimum, likely a bit taller considering footwear. As for Tango and Cash, a double used for the one scene is possible, we can't know either way, though usually they get doubles VERY close to the actor's height so not to mess up the frame. As for the shower scene, Sly CAN look taller, but you could argue that's because of Kurt's physical acting moving his height a lot. In any case, Sly definitely doesn't look shorter there. We can't see their feet so it's inconclusive, though I personally doubt Sly would wear shoes in the shower or stand on a box with another actor no more than 5'9". In any event, the scene I'm talking about is from 1:37-1:42 here: Click Here Full body shot showing Sly looking noticeably taller than Kurt. I'm sure he does have lifts, but that's my point, when Sly has lifts, he's easily taller than Kurt. I believe they were about the same height barefoot with a possibility that Kurt was maybe 1/4" taller, but they were clearly similar range.

Regarding Tango & Cash, the scene them walking into the shower, it's most likely not them. They use doubles in movies all the time. Just a simple math, Russell in cowboys and Stallone in chunky heel plus lifts only managed to be the same height. The outcome is if Stallone was 5'9" then about 2" heel plus lifts would put him easily at 6" and he never reached that. That 5'10.5"-5'10.75" claim is with 2" heel plus lifts.
Here is another one for you. Watch Cop Land and half way through the movie where there is a scene that Liotta and Stallone are running after Rappaport who goes into the woods,for few seconds you can see that Stallone is 4" shorter than Liotta.

I think the 2 men were about the same height, a weak 5'9", possibly slightly under so 174-175 cm range while I can't see Mel any less than 5'9" and 5'9.5" does look a good guess to me, but no more. I think 176 cm like Eddie Murphy is very likely for Mel. As for Woody, I don't want to go into his height too much on Sly's page, his posture us often terrible so I think you can argue anywhere from 5'9" to 5'10", but I don't think he's any shorter than Colin Farrell.

A 59 year old Sugar Ray still edged out Rob with much worse posture than he has there so he's at least standing close to 5'9". Of course he has lifts, those are the same shoes he had on in the 2010 photo I posted below where he looks Randy Couture's height, but those Hogan sneakers even with the huge lifts Sly put in them only add 2.5", maybe 2.75" compared to Leonard's normal 1" shoes, similar to Downey's elevator sneakers. You need a boot for the solid 3 or 4 inch boost. I think they're similar in height. We can safely narrow down Sugar Ray's peak height to 5'8.75"-5'9" while I'd say Sly was at least 5'8.5", but no more than 5'9" so I think there's at least a chance Sly was 1/4" or 1/2" shorter, but absolutely no more. The photo adds up with how Sly looked in the same footwear below with Couture and since I'd estimate a 1.5" footwear advantage and 0.5" posture advantage, it makes sense Sly looks 2"+ taller, perhaps the angle makes up the rest of the difference and he was slightly shorter, I don't know, I'm only arguing Sly was 5'8.5" minimum peak.

Regarding the photo with Sugar, being here for a while you know that Sly definitely has an inch advantage only by posture, the camera is totally on Sly's side making him look even taller and then you take into account the shoes and 99 % lifts in them and I bet you take all that out and Sly will be shorter than him. And you can't just base your judgement on movies. I will assure you that camera angles will do the trick. As for Gibson, he may very well wear lifts, but I don't believe that he's less than a solid 5'9" peak, probably 176 cm, he still looked taller than Richard Gere without boots. I also can't buy Snipes less than 5'8". If Woody Harrelson really is just 5'9" then you can make a case for a 5'8" Snipes, but Snipes looked at least as tall as Jamie Foxx who many think is taller than his own 5'9" claim (although I'm not one of them) I believe Snipes to be around 5'9" or 5'8.5" at worse.

I'm basing my statements on the fact that I have met Snipes, Gibson, Arnold. Snipes is about 172-173cm and he doesn't try to hide it since he was wearing Converse when I met him. Gibson is little trickier since he likes to wear cowboy boots and nowadays it appears that he is using lifts as it shows in photos with Garfield, but he is around 5'8" based on the fact when I met him. Most likely the only reason he is listed at 6'1" because if he is downgraded then Stallone would have to be dropped to 5'7" and bunch others. And the only reason that Stallone goes liftless nowadays is cause most likely he has developed some arthritis from wearing monster lifts for 30 years and now it is very painful in heels when you have arthritis. Weathers is still close to 6'1" today in his late 60s as confirmed by Rob on multiple occasions so he could have easily been 186 cm in the 70's. Sly typically didn't look more than 4" shorter, sometimes 3". Before you automatically say lifts, I have to repost this: Click Here at 0:27 you see Sly in slippers and Weathers in sneakers. Either Banderas had lost half an inch by age 53-54, which is not unusual, or he was never taller than 5'8", which is also believeable considering Tom Hanks was much taller than him in Philadelphia.

You're right, though. My old position was way off. I had relied too much on Glenn's estimate and what the pic he said Sly was wearing sandals for then focused too much on evidence that supported that, but the vast majority of evidence supports my current estimate of 5'8.75" peak and 5'8.25" current and some would say the peak is slightly conservative. In fact, I find it funny that technically I'm now arguing Sly was shorter than Rob is. Granted it's only a quarter inch, but nobody would have thought that would happen some 7 or 8 years ago!

Video of the same event shows they looked similar in height that night. There's no reason to believe Sly is on his toes since they weren't posing for a pic. I now believe Sly was 5'8.5"-5'9", which is exactly what Brigitte Nielsen said and she was both in a position to know and had no reason to lie some 2 decades years after their divorce. When they were married, she lied and said he was 5'10.5" barefoot. As for Gibson, I believe he is or was a solid 5'9" and today could possibly have shrunk slightly to a weak 5'9", which is what I think Sly was until his mid 60s, while he now looks closer to 5'8" to me the last 2 years, or a fraction over, perhaps literally a hair taller than Rob is.

I gotta say though that it's an improvement to see that you think he was 5'8.5"-5'9". Maybe few more years then he will be at under 5'8". Oh wait but then everyone will claim that he has shrunk, lol. As I said, I now believe Sly to have been a weak 5'9" or about 5'8.75", but it's still very easy for me to see why people think he was a solid 5'9". He regularly looked 5'10.5"-5'11" in lifts, not all of them 3+ inches according to Rob and there are instances where he could strangely look about 5'10" even without big shoes. Here's a photo of a 67 year old Sly in barefeet Click Here His wife has been put at 5'9" and 5'9.5", but let's use the low figure to be conservative. Both their heads are down, but compare Sly's frame, even his legs to his wife and he doesn't look short there. The lowest I can see him there in 2013 is 5'8.5", which I do still believe was accurate as recent as 2013.

He always had 2-3" stuffed in his boots and the most he managed to look is close to 5'11" and that's counting his impeccable posture. I think the biggest lifts he wore were in Cobra since Nielsen was 6". He still barely hit 5'11" and that was visible next to Reni Santoni, who was 6" but had looser posture. All of the evidence leads to under 59" in his prime. Don't be fooled by lifts and camera angles.

In the first Rocky, he's barely any shorter in boxing shoes than Joe Frazier is in heels, almost eye to eye, but with that said factoring in everything, I have to amend my guess to 5'8.75" peak and 5'8.25" now to be precise. I think it makes the most sense for all the shorter and taller appearances. Give him 3 inch elevators + perfect posture and you have the 5'11" illusion he sometimes created. Plus, this aligns with Brigitte Nielsen's 174-175 cm guess.

I've noticed this a couple of times too. More kudos to him for it. Sly is mighty enough without having to try and fool everyone into thinking he's taller than he is. We all know he's not a tall man, that doesn't matter. You don't have to be tall to be a man.

Still having mostly dark hair whether natural or at least a decent dye job gives the illusion of looking younger outside of surgery. With that said, HGH/testosterone or not, Sly has always been in genuinely impressive shape for his age, and that's what's more surprising. Many others have retained a more youthful appearance facially, but few have physically. That's probably why he only now seems to be shrinking a bit these last few years post-Expendables 2, along with maintaining great posture, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's made a conscious effort to try to avoid height loss. He was looking about 5'8" or a hair over at the Creed premiere, but typically still looks 5'8.5"-5'9" to me in most comparisons. I'm more sold on 5'8.75"-5'9" peak than current, but anywhere between 5'8" and 5'9" current is my guess.

There is something to that 5'11" impression. When I was younger I heard many people referring to him as 180 cm.

A friend of my father met him in person however and described him as 5'9" - 175cm. This was back in 1992.
My father didn't believe him but seems he was right after all.

He still looks to be holding 5'8" but just barely and with perfect posture.

Met Mr Stallone when I was working in Jury's Hotel in Ireland (limerick) 2003 He stayed a few nights, he used the Hotels Pool and Gym, he was nice guy and I got to meet him 3 or 4 times. The Hotel closed off the pool for him and a few friends between 6am and 7am one morning and I had to make sure no one would enter between these times. I'm dead on 5'9 and Mr Stallone who walked by me barefoot to the changing area was shorter then me he was around 5'7 - 5'7 and a half - other times I saw him he was looking 5'9 to 5'10 with footware. This had been a running theme with other staff who joked about his height as one moment he looked short next he was taller.

I always thought he was tall. He tends to give off a 6' impression at times (to me), but there have been some people estimating him at 5'7" when meeting him in his prime. I couldn't see any less than 5'8.5" at his peak at the very lowest.

I'd say he stood in a solid 5'9" range, as there's plenty of evidence supporting that.

@Rob..Hi Rob cheers for acknowledging my previous post, yes i agree with yourself and several of the guys on this site regarding Stallone's height, i don't think any of us are looking to purposely downgrade the star but it stands to reason, if he was a genuine 5'10" barefoot, what with the lifts he wears, he's be coming in at around 6'1" and he's nowhere near that. Recent photos of himself and Carl Weathers show a difference of some 3 inches and Carl is probably closer to 6' these days, he's 5'8" at a push...

Stallones true height is 5'7 !!! With his generous footwear he hits the 5'10 mark !!! The lady who playd his wife in FIST said sly was shorter than her & she is 5'8 & further stated she was asked to wear flats the entire movie so he could appear taller than her !!!

Rob even thaugh i think Sly many Times just wore thick footwear with no lifts like cubans or hogan in the past in the 1,5-2in , but in movies like lock up and d§molition Man could realy look 5 ft 11ish h§ defentlty had § 1-1,5in inside 1,3-1,5in boots

Stallone definitely isn't 5'10", a guy of that stature would be 5'11"ish with flat shoes or trainers and Stallone barely reaches that height with lifts, i'm not looking to purposely downgrade but i would suspect he's around the 5'8" mark and the lifts boost him to 5'10/11" , which is the height he appears in most of his movies

I agree with the peak listing of flat 5'9" but his current height needs to be tweaked just like Arnold.

Both men are nearer 5'8" flat and 5'11" flat respectively.

In Tango and Cash Stallone looked 2 cm taller than 176 cm Russell in the shower sceen. I know we discussed this before and with camera angels etc. But could it have been double or was Sly 5.9.5 in his younger days?

A 5'9 guy trying to be taller, thats all. One of the most insecure celebs in the world about his height, despite everything he has accomplished on the big screen. He is always wears his custom lifts, and maybe that wasn't so obvious in his youth, but now its looks hilarious and painfully obvious. He knows all the tricks of the trade of how to look taller than his fellow celebs whether through posture or lifts. I don't understand why, besides the obvious, but he already has that reputation as a no nonsense ass kicker, and can still pull off the look, but I will admit it is fun waiting for what he is going to wear next!

Nolifts81 it's good to see you posting a little more regular again. I really don't ever see Sly leaving home without some type of lift in his shoes.
