In some scenes in Lone Wolf McQuade, Robert Beltran had a noticeable advantage over Norris, particularly in full body shots. Beltran is listed here at 5'10.25" and Norris may have had a footwear advantage because he was wearing cowboy boots, I don't remember Beltran's footwear. There's also a scene where Norris is barefoot and he looks similar in height to his female co star. She's listed at 5'9" on I M D B, but you never know how accurate that is.

One scene that also has me puzzled is a scene where Norris is in his usual cowboy boots and David Carradine who had just gotten done fighting in a ring(I believe barefoot ro in flat shoes), stands near Norris and has possibly more than 2 inches on him. Carradine is 6'0".

5'8.5 is accurate for Chuck Norris. But the funny thing is that you list Bruce Lee at 5'7 1/2, though in every picture of Lee and Norris, Lee is clearly between 2-2.5 inches shorter. So it's interesting that but Bruce Lee may have actually been under 5'7.

Yeah, 5'8" is pretty nonsensical for Gibson when comparing him to Letterman, Leno, Clooney or Danny Glover. Gibson pulls off looking 5'11" with cowboy boots.

As far as Chuck, what I wonder about is the comparison to Jean Claude Van Damme. Chuck does look the same height/taller than Van Damme whenever they're picture together, but Van Damme is more of a flat 5'9", IMO. I'd assume this is because Chuck wears lifts, but maybe Van Damme could be 5'8.5" himself.

It's well known that Chuck wears lifts so that's probably why he looked taller later on. I'll give him atleast 5'8.5" now after reconsidering a bit. A flat 5'8" though? That seems a bit low.

By the way Leung, I was wondering what's your opinion on Mel Gibson's height? A lot of posters think he's 5'8", but I'd say that 5'9"-5'9.5" range is more likely for Gibson.

Right Leung. Also in the photo above Roland Dante, although hunch backed, still has a 1.5" advantage (compare eye level not hair level). If Roland stood straighter Chuck's eye level would be slightly lower then Roland's nose, or a roughly 2" difference. Also look at the belt line difference. We can't be sure of footwear either, we don't know if Chuck is wearing his usual cowboy boots. I really can't see Chuck at over 5'8" (172-3cm).

In Delta Force Chuck Norris looked the shortest in the cast. He was 4-5" shorter then a poor postured 6'1"-2" Lee Marvin. In the Octagon he was also about 5-6" shorter then 6'2" Lee Van Cleef (who still had good posture for his age). Chuck was definately wearing cowboy boots though I suspect so was Van Cleef. I would think Chuck Norris is closer to 5'8" tops.

I guess 5'8.5" is fine for Chuck. 1.5" taller than 5'7" Bruce Lee. With his cowboy boots/lifts combo he'd be able to pass for a legit 5'10" on Walker Texas Ranger which he did.

I've seen Brinkley and she's taller than me and I'm 5'8". I'd guess 5'9". I remember they were close in that infomercial, maybe she was a little taller, but I can't remember.

Norris with Mike Huckabee, who is listed at 5-11, and a man that I would believe is not a lift wearer, and a man that has no reason to exaggerate his height. As far as I can tell there is a 2.5"+ difference here. That makes Chuck 5-8.5 and maybe closer to 5-8 nowadays.

I thought Christie Brinkley looked 5'9" in person and I think think that Chuck is 5'9" as well. I remember Chuck and Christie being similar in height on that total gym commercial. I have no idea how tall either of them are, I am sure Chuck is taller than me and Rob is shorter. I am 5'6" every time I get a checkup. I was at the Disneyland Hotel Coffee shop in 1982 and There was a "Wrap"party going on upstairs for one of the MIA pictures. Chuck came downstairs and purchased two cups of tea from the waiter / cashier, a young hispanic kid who was in awe and asked for his autograph. Chuck was nice enough to oblige and that's when I noticed how short he was. I compared him to the kid and after Chuck went back up to the party, I asked the kid how tall he was. Chuck still never looks under 5-9 and he's nearly 70. 5-10 peak isn't hard for me to believe at all. He looked 5-10, 5-11 in Missing In Action but I don't remember his footwear. I met chuck in the early 90's when he flew on board the USS Nimitz after the first Gulf War. He was in a flight suit, so he wasnt able to use the lift shoes/boots he must normally wear. Just watched Missing In Action again. Chuck was pretty much an inch shorter than James Hong and pretty much the same height as M. Emmet Walsh.

I've found 6'0" listings for Hong and 5'10" listings for Hong. Either the 6'0" listings for Hong are off, he shrunk from that height or Chuck Norris wore bigger shoes for those scenes.

In the movie he appeared to be a legit 5'10"-5'11" man so he was probably wearing lifts.

Unless Vin is significantly shorter than 6 foot or Chuck has a 3" footwear advantage it's hard to see Chuck under 5'9". Both are unlikely especially since Vin likes to wear big heeled boots a lot.

We also both agree that Sly is atleast about 5'10" but if you went by the first two Rambo films you'd think he could be a little short. That's because his co-stars, 6'1" Richard Crenna, 6'1" Martin Kove, 6'3" Brian Dennehy and 6'0" David Caruso are all tall and everyone wore boots meaning Sly could only get a small 0.5" or 1" advantage at best. Maybe the Delta Force cast was tall like the Rambo casts, after all Lee Marvin is listed here at 6'2". I believe everyone wore boots in the Delta Force as well.

I've always read/heard that Chuck is 5'8". As a fellow martial artist and former U.S. middleweight champ (in my style) I can tell you at 5'7" I find that a shorter height if anything works to my advantage, giving you a lower center of gravity. Well, he had a about 1.5 inches on Bruce Lee. There is considerable evidence now that Bruce Lee ranged (between morning to night) from 5'7.25" to 5'6.75". So Chuck was probably around 5'8.25" - 5'8.75" in his prime. Today Chuck is probably between 5'7.75" and 5'8.25".

Chuck is for sure larger than Bruce in their fight in Rome. It is fairly well assured Bruce was 5'7.5". He was not the short man people thought he was. Chuck looks a good strong 5'9" in that. I heard in his biography that Lee needed him large for the movie. Norris stated he was around 165 lbs and piled on the calories to achive 180 pounds for the first battle scene. Norris looked around 5'9" and 180 lbs for the scene. Most assuredly more than an inch over Bruce.

Chuck is clearly larger than Bruce during their bout in Rome. It is pretty much assured Bruce was 5'7.5". He wasn't as short as people think. Chuck looks a good solid 5'9" there. I read in his biography that Bruce wanted him big for the film. He said he was about 165 pounds and laid on the calories to get to 180 lbs for the fight scene. He looked about 5'9" and 180 lbs for that scene. Definitely more than 1 inch over Bruce.

I met Chuck Norris in 1997 at the Kentucky Derby with the guy that used to do the big lots commercials. I am 5'9" without Shoes- Chuck had a pair of boots on - he was no taller then my Shoulders. He is 5'3" TOPs. The guy from bigs lots was a half a head taller then Chuck. And Bruce Lee was not 5'7, he was 5'6".

I do think that the Chuckster was 5'9" peak, and chances are that he is still close to that height, sure he is an old dude but his martial arts and flexibility has probably ensured that his spine is much healthier than other 67 year old's. In other words, as Norris is now manifestly 5'7"-ish (I saw him up close in bare feet at 5'8", but that was fifteen years ago) for him to appear as being nearly Diesel's stature would require 4 to 5 inch lifts - if
Diesel is really six feet tall. As no lifts exist that can give you that kind of boost, it forces Diesel's height down from six feet into the 5'10.5" range,

I don't know his height, but he certainly has a mega complex about it. In "Walker texas ranger", you occasionaly see him giving karate lessons, in a dojo.

Norris is an obvious wearer of tremendously built-up boots, and has never been depicted on the screen wearing "normal" shoes. However, I have stood next to him in martial arts settings where he was in his bare feet, and it struck me that he was slightly taller than the total shrimp boat on delivery a la Tom Cruise that I was expecting. I have a friend at the gym who has actually fought Chuck Norris. This guy is a 7th degree blackbelt and teaches (even in his early 70's) martial arts at a Police Academy in my town. Anyway, we got to talking about this and it dawned on me to ask him how tall Chuck is. He said 5'7", 5'8". This guy has fought Chuck 3 times. Yes, he lost to him.

I think Chuck struggles to make the 5'7.5" mark these days. There's no question he wears lifts as does Sylvestor Stallone. I'm just jealous because they can both afford CUSTOM lifts and elevator shoes while I'm forced to buy the basic mail order versions. The pro side on me is I'm not a celebrity so nobody is going to be guessing DP's (my initials) height since nobody cares or knows me beyond my little home town.
