He wore big heeled shoes next to Mel Gibson in Ransom and was still a half inch or an inch shorter. Mel's shoes looked normal and I believe Mel is 5'10". I think 5'8" is possible and that lifts can make him seem taller, after all you saw him in dress boots right Glenn?

Glenn, I would say you need to believe in your 5’9” sightings, sometimes you have to go with what you see rather than what you hear. 5’9” makes sense for Sinese, I doubt he could be as low as 5’8”.

I have to agree with Glenn. He looks taller than 5'8ish guys on CSI New York. He could be 5'8 and a half and rounding down. If he is 5'8 flat he must wear rather thick shoes, and in all likelihood he would then be a little shorter than Gibson despite what he says. I doubt Gibson is 5'8 flat.

thanks Rob for the fix now i get what it was meant in the first place..

my own personal conclusion is that his lowest is 174cm and tallest 175cm and it varies depending of the hour/day/movie and finally that he's a lift wearer because he surely looks 5'10-5'11ish in most movies hence why he didn't respond to Glenn stating that Gary looked somehow taller.

so 174-175cm is it.

i was reading again the first paragraph while checking replies and something caught my eye..

hmm did he look 5'8 or 5'9 glenn? there's a bit of confusion between the reply and the stated line.

i got a theory, if he looked 5'8 and 5'9 then he's in the middle, possibly his real height could be 174cm or 5'8.5 and on a good day 5'9 or 175cm, that's my theory hence the 5'8 / 5'9 dilemma. ;)

I saw him in 2001 on Broadway in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I remember when watching the play thinking he seemed on the smaller side, as he was one of the shortest cast members, but I don't know anyone else who was in it so that doesn't say much. If he says he is 5'8, I don't know why he would be more than that, though he could be between 5'8 and 5'9 without realizing he is rounding down. Awesome actor.

That is a load of bull. I mean he was a bit shorter than Charlie Sheen in the Big Bounce, but not more than an inch or so. Charlie Sheen looked like a weak 5ft10 and Gary looked 5ft8 - 5ft9 range in that movie.

I actually just saw Gary Sinise at the airport a few hours ago. A friend spotted him and asked what looked like a family member if it was really him and it was. He was wearing a baseball cap but it was definately him. He was a really nice guy as was his family. I was stunned though by his height. I couldn't believe how short he was. I'm 5'9 and I felt like I towered over him. I would say he has to be about 5'7. There is no way in hell he is 5'10.

i met him during a USO tour for the military, I'm 5'8 and 1/2 and i was actually looking down at him. I would say he's between 5'7 and 5'7 3/4. I would have never guessed he was that height until shaking his hand and standing right next to him. He definitly needs a downgrade. Also Stamos was there he was about 5'10

My wife was 5’10.5” in the heals she wore that night and was right next to Sinise during one of his military performances. I would say 5’8.5 to 5’9” is a fair estimate. I did not see his shoes. I have photo but must get her permission rather than end up on the couch.

If you're sure he's 5'9" then I might be either shorter than I think or in need of posture improvement. I was wearing tech boots (urban combat boots...I was portraying a SWAT officer) and Sinise was wearing thick soled dress shoes. Probably about the same amount of lift. 5'8"-5'9". I met him doing extra work on CSI NY. He was perhaps a tad taller than me. He had a strong grip when I shook his hand, he's a tough little guy. Also in his movies he looks like he is not aging well but in person he looked very healthy and fit. I might go with 5'9" becasue he did look taller than I.

I agree with this height. I dont think he is an inch under it. Watch the stand when it shows him and Rob Lowe standing next to eachother with there backs towards the screen. You can only see about an inch difference and Rob is listed at 5'11.

Glad you noticed Stiffelio, i've been trying to get get Rob to correct his height to a realistic 5'8" for the longest time. Gary Sinise was one of the first actors to get me interisted in celeb's heights, because he always looked ead on 5'8" on movies but was listed 5'10" everywhere else, except for this one site that had him listed as 5'8". Even in the movie imposter he is listed as 5'8" and some change.

Rob rent the movie imposter. it's a pretty good movie. In the movie Gary Sinise is wanted because everyone thinks he is an alien with a bomb. So there are these profiles going up all over and on them you see height, and it says 5'8.252, not sure about the numbers after the point.

Mr.R I think you are being a little harsh on Sinise height, he isn't no way near 5'10" but he is about average height, he isn't much shorter than tom hanks in forrest gump. He is more like 5'7 1/2". and he is not the type of guy to wear elevators, so if he was 5'6" you would kinda notice it on screen. Watch mission to mars and you will see he is the same height as don cheadle, and connie nielson and if you watch the movie imposter you will see he is maybe a little shorter than tony shaloub, their is a nice scene with them both walking down a corridor, he is also the same height as mekhi phiefer, he meets the mark with all the 5'7"s - 5'9"s. Also on his wanted profile on imposter he is listed as 5'8" (why would they lie for him)

This guy looks barely taller than 5'7" (pretty close to accurately listed) Melina Kanakaredes, now given Kanakaredes being a woman, does wear decent size heals most of the time. Still, even if she is in 2 inch heals she looks just about same height as Sinese who is probably wearing .5-1 inch healed shoes. I think he's just around 5'8", 176 cm is a pretty generous listing for him. He's always looked like a pretty short guy to me, so no way he is just 1 cm shorter than average height (177 cm)! I would give him 5'8", and I think I'm being generous with that, he's been listed at 5'10" which is just too generous! I can see him being just about an inch or two taller than Melina without shoes! MAXIMUM 175 cms, probably around 173 cms!

LMeister, for that film, the character is supposed to be big so Malcovich did have special boots for the film. BUT, I had another look and will take 1cm off Sinise, in particular I spotted him wearing cowboy boots in The Stand and saw some pictures of him at a gulf war type event beside 5ft 11 Rebecca Romijin.
