I'll revise my earlier statement based on the Kutchner picture and learning Travis McCoy is 6'5" or 6'6". Kutcher slouches a bit there, but clearly Mayer has an inch on him. He's not staning as straight in the McCoy picture, so I'd say 6'3" is more accurate. Especially since that's how tall he (JM) says he is.

6'3" seems accurate or perhaps a touch understated. I'm 5'6" and when I met him (albeit 7 years ago) he reminded me of one of the Redwood trees in California. His stature was such that I have never forgotten my first impression. A 9" or even 10" height gap is completely appropriate.

Man these celebs are all liars and inconsistent with their shoe lifts. The picture of him with James Blake and the one with Tiger Woods says it all. With tennis players I know for certain that they don't lie about their height, it would be stupid to since they're always standing next to each other wearing the same sneakers and getting photographed. Blake is definitely 6'1" and he looks slightly taller than Mayer. Tiger Woods is about 6' (since Federer is probably a weak 6'2" who lists himself as 6'1" and looked about 2 inches taller) and he looks the same height as Mayer.

Nice photo of John with Tiger. It's pretty weird that Tiger (who I think is 6ft or 6ft1) according to this site looks the same height as John in that picture. There was a period were John was wearing converses on tour which don't give much height at all (probably half an inch, maybe a little more) compared to the dress shoes that Tiger was probably wearing which we know can give an inch to an inch and a half. Given John's posture and his "Clooney" head tilt in the photo, and Tiger's perfect posture (which I've noticed he does a lot), I'd say one could argue that John is more in the 6ft2 to 6ft2.5 range, rather than the full 6ft3. However, photos can be misleading so I don't think there's any need to for Rob to downgrade here. Still, good photo though!

I've seen Mayer 3 times at the store I work at in lower Manhattan, and the guy wears thin shoes, and has a very low key slouching posture (slouches quite a bit) and still comes across like a big guy. I would say 6'3" is about right, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was 6.3.5". You guys have to factor in his thin shoes and posture and he still looks quite big. Nice guy.

looks like viper has a soft spot for mr. mayer here. he doesn't care to downgrade other people's height but makes excuses for mayer. just playing viper. I actually agree with you. When I say him in concert he was wearing a pair of converses which really only give about half an inch, which is tiny compared to other shoes out there. He still looked huge anyway. I don't know if he's really a full 6'3". Does anyone remember how tall he looked next to chappell when he was on that episode. that could be useful in pin-pointing this guy's height.

All the press for Mayer during his first album emphasized his height, which was usually described as 6'3", sometimes 6'4".
