You said the same BS a million times James B. Repeating the same BS will not make it true. Will smith never looked 6'2 or 6'3 in fresh prince. In the first 2 or 3 seasons of fresh prince James Avery looked 3.5- to almost 4 inches taller than Will smith. In the later seasons the difference seem smaller , between 2-3 inches. Maybe james Avery at that point lose a bit from his peak height. Will smith is 6'1 max nothing more.

I have said this a gazillions times already but when he wore timberlands in the fresh prince he could actually pass for 6'2.5 or even 6'3 and held his own against 'then' 6'4.5 James Avery. In the first fresh prince episode looked like a typical lanky 6'2 African American basketball player. During the 1989-1991 fresh prince seasons avery was around 6'5 and he really could dominate will smith in terms of height. In the 1992-1996 seasons though James looked closer to 6'4 than 6'5 in my opinion.

But He looks 37 and is in Captain America shape. He looks really, really good. But not over 6 ft. I'm 5' 7" (5' 8" in high tops) and he was 4 inches taller.

In a magazine I seen in high school he wrote down 6'3 so that's the tallest he has even claimed but it seems usually 6'2 he claims. Calling his height in shoes or just wants to say 6'2. watching old episodes of Fresh Prince, I think some people over-estimate the height difference between James Avery and Will Smith because Avery was so imposing. In the episodes I was watching, Will's head is very high up and his level is always well above Avery's mouth RIP.

guys dont forget the 1inch rule .....substract up to 1inch from whatever height an actor under 6'4 or actress under 5'11 claims and you got their real height...90% of height claims by people, be it a celebirty or just your average joe on the street, are rounded up a little (mostly its 2cm thats added)

Just reading through some of the comments posted here...you cannot judge an actor's height from a photo. There's nothing real about Hollywood. It's all an illusion. too many people are using pictures with horrible perspective and angles(ie camera is to the side and the guy being compared to smith is standing a couple of feet away and in front or behind of him...not to mention they might be on uneven ground.

186cm. He never looked really tall in movies. When I first saw him in movies, i Thought he was 5 foot 10 but that was a long time ago. 186cm has to be max.

i still think will smith pulled of looking 6'2-6'3 range when he wore his timbs on the show. when he had on those shoes he looked in the same height range as guys like ashton kutcher and brandon roth.
i thought he could pass for 6'3 in timberlands for sure.
Of course in his movies i don't think he's ever looked 6'2.5 but closer too 6'1.

Same here arch in the first episode of the fresh prince he looked like your typical 6'2 african american guy. Gave me the impression of a lanky 6'2 basketball player.
I must note that in the first episode the of the fresh prince james avery did look slightly taller than he did in the later seasons of the show. So i think avery was 6'4.75-6'5 in the 1989-1991 season of the fresh prince and shrunk too 6'4.5 in the 1992-1996 seasons because he put on weight.

In a lot of his films he does not look over 6'1 I agree.
When he appeared on 'All of Us' years ago he looked 6'0.5 (I think that was because he was carrying a lot of bulk). In enemy of the state though did look 6'1.5.
