Just watched taxi driver again. If Jodie Foster was 5'2, you could make a case for de niro being 5'9 to 10. However Cybill is at least de niro height, with de niro in lifts. So how tall was cybill in her twenties. kietel is perhaps 6 inches taller than Jodie. So I think Jodie is perhaps 5'1 at best at the time. The behind the scene shots make de niro five may be six inches taller than scorcese. So getting tricky. De niro still does not look 5'10 in the crowd scenes, even with the lifts. For my money there are to many women who make him look small. meryl streep, sharon stone and cybill, none of these ladies is a kidman when it comes to height. If you can get Cybill to 5'9 1/2 maybe de niro was 5'9. kietel de niro shots, there is always two inches height difference. kietel in flats and de niro's in lifts, still think they are within an inch of each other heightwise.

Watch the actors studio with 5ft 5 1/2 Lipton when the guess walk out. Hoffman, Parcino are his size ben Stiller slightly taller, then De niro looks closest to lipton height, may be two inches taller. About the same size as michelle phifer in heels. Read the column on heels on here, you will realise michelle stand about 5'8 in heels, take an inch of for men shoes and you get 5'7. Which is what De Niro looks with Glenn, Crusie etc today. Johnny Depp eye line is level with the top of Lipton's head. Which would put Depp between 5'9 1/2 and 5'10, given he wears boots. He is about 5'9 to 5'9 1/2 as listed on this site. Depp and de niro are listed the same size a lot of places 177cm or 5'9 1/2. well depp is at least two and half maybe three inches taller than de Niro. I do not believe De Niro has lost two inches in height unless Al Parcino has too, one yes, two no. Danimal when Walken was younger he was shorter than roger moore by about an inch. I would not go beyond the top end of 6ft for Walken, but hey we are arguing about half an inch. The difference between garcia and de niro was more than the difference between moore and walken. I think De Niro rounded up to 5'9 when he was young man and now rounds up to 5'8. There is a difference between Mitchum and Walken, and De Niro and Crusie. First all most guys who are over 6ft are not bothered about their height in my opinon. Guys under 5'10 often are, certainly in hugh numbers compared to 6 fters. What makes him different to walken, duchovny, pitt even in his younger days, is the amount of time he is in lifts in movies. Also the amount of time he looks shorter than expected in real life. Uma Thurman is clearly 5 inches taller than him now in flats. He is clearly shorter than Tom Crusie and the same height as confirm 5'6 3/4 glenn. Behind the scene still show he was two inches taller than al parcino in the early seventies, both are in cuban heels. He is a couple of inches taller than john lipton from the actors studio, who is 5'6 at best. I was astonished when he walk out how much shorter he was than i expected. Most guests tower Lipton, even the ladies but not de niro. He looked so small in long shots next to meryl Streep, cybril sheppard. even jodie foster looks a decent size next to him. Take his shoes off him I doubt he was taller than Harvey kietel. Look again at the movie taxi driver, at kietel plimsoles and de niro cuban heels plus lifts. There is not an inch between them. Where do you get your info from man? First of all, Deniro wasn't 30 in 1979. He was 35-36 in 1979 and he didn't get down to 10 stone (140 pounds) for Raging Bull. He got down to 11 stone and one pound (155 pounds) and went up to 15 stone (215 pounds) for the same role. The surprise is that a guy of his age actually loses two whole inches without a serious medical problem. People talk on here about losing two inches as if it's the most normal and inevitable thing in the world. Two inches is a very large amount for someone of average height to lose. I suspect Pacino is more like 5'5" than 5'6", but I'd be suspcious unless it's a full body shot. I don't have a real problem with De Niro at 5'8" peak, it's certainly possible, but I'd give him a solid 5'9" back then. Not 5'10" though. TELLEM says on 27/Jul/09
